Title: Jacuzzi / Sundance footwell socks
Post by: bulmer4nc on April 06, 2005, 12:53:29 pm
Does anyone know if these are the same size?  Can I just go to my local Jacuzzi dealer and get socks from them for my Optima?

As long as you know the year of the tub, just go to your local dealer.  They shoud stock them.

You're saying my local Jacuzzi dealer will stock the socks that will fit our 04 Optima?  I assumed they would stock the ones that fit the tubs they sell.  I was just checking if anyone knew if they fit an Optima since they appear to be around the same size from any pictures I've seen.

Hey Bulmer,

I'd call and ask!  The worst they can say is no and I'm sure they understand your dealer has gone out of business!

Just to warn you, there are two different size socks that Sundance uses.

What is the purpose of these socks? If they screen the intake water, is it needed? Is Jacuzzi and Sundance doing something different than the rest of the industry?

Thanks

Those socks keep sand and other debris out of your plumbing.  In particular, in the Optima, there is no filter for the water drawn into the single speed pump.  The water gets drawn into the intakes at the bottom of the footwell, and thru the diverter valve and pump, then out the jets served by that pump.
Sundance says use them, that's good enough for me.
Since Jacuzzi owns Sundance, there may be some common parts between the spas.  The Jacuzzi dealer near my office said they could get me micro filters, pleated filters, socks, etc....  Not sure if Jacuzzi even uses micro filters.

Should keep them on,,,,,but for some reason it seems that the jets have more power with them off.{maybe its in my head}But they should be on when you change your water and after that i don't think it makes a differance unless you live near a beach.Jt
