Hi,
I posted yesterday about PDC vs. Resort and they don't seem to be a popular brand.
Can someone give me a list of maybe the top 5 or 6 brands as far as quality and reliability? I live in SW Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh area). Does anyone know of any good dealers south of Pittsburgh--Washington, PA or even in Wheeling, WV?
Thanks and this is a great forum. Just looking through past posts, I've learned a lot.

denise,
There are many good brands on the market today. I think most will agree that the top 6 are as follows, maybe not in order;
Sundance, Hot Springs, Marquis, D-1, Artesian, Jacuzzi and Caldera.
There has to be a dealer in your area that sells AND services their product. Make sure they have a service department, that is the MOST important.
Good luck... ;D

In no particular order: Caldera, HotSpring, Jacuzzi Premium, Sundance, Marquis are 5 good ones. There are others.
-
D1, Marquis, MAAX(coleman/elite), HotSpring, Caldera.
-
There will be one common thread here. Those of us who are dealers will list THEIR brand first, then all others. Is that not true?? ???
As long as the Cal dealers don't chime in... ;D

OK, I'll be different:
Sundance,
Caldera,
Tiger River and
HotSpring
;D
-
for golf ping and callaway (I am a ping and Mizuno man myself).
for cars honda and Toyota (we are honda people).
Hot tubs, Marquis. and well, Marquis!

What is Watkins looking to buy Sundance now? ;) ;D

I would say that all the brands listed are good, but not to exclude some others. The dealer made a big part of my decision to buy Dynasty, and I'm happy 2 years later. I also have one friend still happy with thier Vita Spa. Look through our review section, go to the manufacturers website and see what is in your area.

I will say that while there is a certain group of manufactures that seem to be commonly agreed upon ...there are also companys that are more regional makers that seem to do a good job as well....I think D-1 , Hot Psrings, Sundance and Marquis will make the top of many lists and in certian areas you might also find Coleman, Hydro-Pool , Beachcomber.

No there is no trend here hottuber!
This is all biased based on what the most common poster's own, like , sell , manufacture.

I'm still looking and none of this is a help to me?? I like the cal?????????

Please tell us why.....nothing wrong in that being your choice and if you feel it is the best for you than go for it....but being that no else lists it among their choice.....might make someone wonder why

jmoll,
We can only give advise here. If your heart tells you that Cal is the brand for you, sink your teeth into it. ;) Just do us a favor, keep in touch regarding your likes and dislikes of the product. Hey,who knows, maybe you are on to something, or... on something ;D
good luck and LOL... ;)

dsegel,
Please don't discount Master Spas if you have a dealer close even though they haven't been mentioned by others in this thread. I'm an extremely happy LSX owner and have a friend who is very happy with his LS700. Good luck!

There is the trend I was talking about. :oIt looks like it is, and always will be Hot Spring, Sundance as the two top dogs forever...They have been the largest volume in sales for as long as spas have been around.
And very consistant, year in year out.
How far off am I? ;D

Sorry, but Watkins MFG, who makes HotSpring, Tiger River, Hot Spot, Solana and Caldera Spas is simply the largest seller of hot tubs in the world. They are the undisputed 'most popular brand,' by that definition.
The Sundance/Jacuzzi group is firmly ensconced in second place.
These are based on the numbers, not opinions here on this board or anywhere else.
This doesn't make them the best for everybody, in fact it doesn't make them the best at anything - other than selling tubs - but the question was 'most popular.'

Ummm top 5? Well after researching and trying different ones I list them like this:
1. Hot springs
2. Sundance
3. Master spas
4. Beachcomber
5. Caldera
Seems like those were the most popular ones and the ones with the better reputations. (Go ahead I just put the flame suit on). ;D ;D ;D
-
TOP 5 (In Order):
Dimension One
Marquis
Sundance
Hot Spring
Caldera
Next 5 in no particular Order:
@Home Hot Tubs
Everyday Hot Tubs
Nordic Hot Tubs
Tiger River Spas
Sweet Water
-
TOP 5:
Dimension One
Marquis
Sundance
Hot Spring
Caldera
Just curious, are those your top 5 in NO particular order or is that D1 at #1 and Caldera at #5?
-
Not really an objective list here. These manufactures are for the most part, just the biggest players on the markets. This topic says nothing about the quality of the product or the level of customer service.
If you're looking for a tub...this topic may put you in the right direction. This is just simply a way for the sales guys to list there spa.

Would that be a pink leisure suit with cumber bun? :o

i must respectfully disagree.
in MOST cases, the reason that a company selling any product stays in the top 5 of their market, IS based upon long term performance, reliability, and good service. that is WHY they are on top of their competition.
granted, no one company is perfect. i'm sure if you looked you could find some one with a bad experience for every top brand mentioned here. but that is the exception to the norm. if a large volume of customers started having problems with service, and reliability, in a short period of time, they would not stay listed as a top performer in their market.
look at chrysler corp from the 70's. aqfter being one of the top 3 auto producers in the country for decades, they developed a poor reputation based on lousy performance and service, and nearly went bankrupt. they did manage to turn things around but it took years. today the are again considered a powerhouse and in the top few of the auto industry
cal spas has unfortunately aquired a reputation for performance issues and poor customer service. they may be well on the way to a dramatic improvement just like chrysler did in the 80's, BUT they have not yet earned the recognition of this yet. that is why they are not listed mong the top industry performers.
this is capitalism at its best.......

If 80% of the market share is owned by 20% of the manufacturers...how 'weighted' do you think the results are going to be?
