For the first time in my memory a hot tub is featured in a comic strip. I'm not sure of the brand or it's insulation method. Its in today's Funky Winkerbean. I'll try to scan it when I get home and post it, hoping the author doesn't find out.
I've liked this strip for awhile as it lets is characters grow up, so you feel you have known them a long time. It can get preachy at times taking on issues such as domestic violence and breast cancer. (Aren't comics supposed to be funny?)
This series involving the hot tub seems a bit erotic for the comics, but they are probably leading into a segment about STDs or something. If I don't lose it, I'll post it tonight.

I think comics are supposed to be funny, that's why I don't read Mary Worth, Mark Trail, Judge Parker, and those like it.
I work in the IT department of our company, so I get a kick out of Dilbert.
I miss the Far Side, and Calvin and Hobbes. I really enjoyed those.
Our paper doesn't even carry Funky W. And I can't see anyone getting upset if you post the cartoon.
I think we'd enjoy seeing it.
-
I see we have similar taste in comics. I'll post it tonight. Another IT type! The official site, King Features is a month delayed unless your a subscriber, so it will have to wait.

nerver heard of Funky wickerbean, but my good friend google gave me this:
It's dated June 22, and comes from the fine folks at the Seatle Post . Thanks Seatle Post! http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/fun/funky.asp

Thanks Drew,
Now for those who don't follow the strip, this couple just met for the first time and she suggested they go to her place, and I'm pretty sure she didn't ask him to bring a suit!
Scandalous! Where is Jerry Fallwell when you need him!

Thanks again Drew. I'm almost sure this is heading to a STD issue.
I wonder what kind of tub this is, A SuperFallsApart? But more important, where were the hot single blondes with hot tubs when I was that age. Wait, its just a comic strip.
Maybe her husband is about to join them. That happens out there you know. Maybe she is his teacher?
-
I bet this type of thing happens to hot tub repair techs all the time.
That and pizza delivery boys. Imean I've seen the movies. I know.
-
Wonder what type of tub she has. Isn't the knocked/flat corner on the tub found on a nationaly known tub?
-
Wow this is almost as exciting as my soaps! ;D

Well, it hasn't happened to any home-pc techs I know. At least not yet. But 75% of my customers are seniors. I did have one show me their 16 year old HS Landmark.
-
You'd be surprised at some of the stories our techs tell me. Evidently, a lot of ladies that have service calls do not like to wear underwear beneath their running shorts and they enjoy hovering over our guys as they work on the spas. The guys really take their time in such instances to make sure the customer is happy.
There are other stories I can't tell publicly. Even little ol' bald-headed me has been propositioned a couple of times (probably the uniform), but Homey don't play that game.

Alright - let's focus on the tub in the strip:
Endural exterior,
controls on the outside - most likely an aux panel inside,
already hot and bubbling,
water is clean and clear,
ETL sticker clearly visible (with magnification),
it's obvious the brand.
It's a

They dropped this line pretty abruptly after Saturday.

I knew something didn't look right. Pretty sure it is Funky WiNkerbean. I know it has been around a long time but I haven't paid much attention to the comics for a long time. Did enjoy Bloom County the first time around as well as The Farside and I know a version of Bloom County is back but haven't been motivated enough to check it out.

I think its now just called Opus. My paper carries it on Sunday, I don't know if it is daily too.

Our paper has Opus on Sunday too. I don't think that they run it daily.
I liked the original Bloom County. Not so much Opus, or the strip between Opus and Bloom County- can't even remember the name of it anymore.
OUTLAND - Yea, it wasn't quite the same.

I used to like reading Nancy. But it got wierd when Sluggo had an affair with Aunt Fritzi and then Nancy became a radical activist for the liberal media claiming a vast right wing conspiracy....
Speaking of Comics, there was a funny bit on Family Guy the other night. Popeye is at the doctors and is informed his unusual speech, manerisms and one eye closed is the result of a stroke.
"Mr Popeye, you realize, you've been walking around for years after suffering a stroke? The fact that you are still alive is nothing short of a miracle. And your grotesequly huge bloated forearms? Cancer. I mean sir, you must have realized arms like that are not normal...."
-
I did see that episode. Funny no Doctor has commented on the testicals growing on Peter and his son's chin.
-
The Family Guy cracks me up big time- I love the rapid fire rate of the jokes and sight gags. I did see that Popeye scene too.
Was that the same episode when they somehow flashed back to biblical times, and were somewhere in Noah's Ark?
Some guy in robes (Noah) was standing next to an elephant and a penguin. Between the elephant and penguin was a creature with the head of an elephant and the rest of the body was penguin.
Noah looks at them and say "What the "BLEEP"", and the elephant and penguin just shrug their shoulders.
Then Noah asks them if the've grown attached to their offspring, and says something like "Good, he's going overboard"
I found that so funny I laughed outloud for hours.
My wife probably thought I'd lost it.
-
I know I brought it up, but I'm not actually a big fan of the FG. They seem to do about 10000 "Like the time...." or "Remeber when.,.." gags in a show. I find about 10% of them amusing, but since they do about 1000000 in a show, I usally find myself chuckling quite a bit.
Adam West is great. I love that guy. he has the best voice.
South PArk once did an episode where they suggested the writers of Familly guy were a bunch of manatees randomly choose 3 balls with words on it.
"Look the Manatee choose the "Coffee" "Clown"and "Jesus" balls! Quick right a scene when peter has coffee witha a clown and Jesus!"
Sometimes, I swear thier scripts are that random and bizzare.

At this point, I would remind everyone this guy's hobby is home beer brewing.

The storyline between the young couple in this strip that started out with "the hot tub incident" has returned. At first I thought it was going to be some lecture about STDs, but I think we are giong to find out the young man is gay, and get lectured on homophobia and acceptance. My guess anyway.
