Title: Artesian Piper Glen
Post by: BadBack on February 27, 2005, 08:53:19 pm
Has anyone wet tested a Piper Glen?  I wet tested on Sunday and found the spa to be very large and comfortable, a great choice for a big person.  The jet location and the ability to control the pressure was very good.  My one concern and question is I felt the the pressure coming out of the jets in the footwell seemed to be very weak.  Does anyone have any experience with this spa?  I am back in the market again and find it to be a tough choice between this spa and the Marquis Euphoria.  Both have pros and cons.  I also do like the Grandee, but the lack of foot jets bothers me.  Any info would be great.

hi, i too wet tested the piper glenn. i am 6' 2 220. your right it is big and comfortable. it would be my first choice in the platinum series. but my wife saw the dove canyon and we wet tested that one, and we both liked it just as well.  as far as the foot dome jets being a little weak, your right, they are.  the dove canyon's foot jets are a bit stronger though i noticed.  it's too hard to find the ultimate tub, and i know i'm sick of looking so if your pros outweigh your cons by a lot i would stick to the piper., or try out the dove canyon.  good luck.

I also tried the Dove Canyon, but I am 6'5 and did not fit in the lounger at all.  I have not found one lounger that I was even close to fitting in.  I liked the therepy of the Euphoria, but it was not as deep, as the Piper or Grandee, it also felt a little small, but it is a great spa.  The Piper felt great except for the footwell jets.  I really do like the Euphoria's pressure from the jets, but I really do not like the two cool down seats, and every time I mved I felt like a lot of water was coming out of the tub.

Have you considered any other tubs...Hot Springs....Marquis.....Sundance.....The 05 Reward from Marquis has a lounger and is very roomy......with excellent foot jets as you can roll all the power from 1 pump just to them....

The Piper Glen is probably the MOST versatile spa made today. With 5 ajustable flow pumps, this spa can give you the ultimate in massage.
I wet tested this spa at a dealer in Chatanooga, Tn. last month, I felt that is was so controlable, each seat can be customized for your water flow preference. The Dove Canyon, same thing with a lounger in it.
Being only 5'7", I could sit in front of the jets and not get blown away like most high proformance spas today.
Very, very comfortable spa, it would be most consumers first choice had it not been for the price tag on it.

The Grandee has foot jets. They put a pair of 'Jetstream Jets' down in the footwell area.  These jets are like a firehose under water. Try them wet.

See the two big jets just above the bottom drain:

hottubber,
what did you think of the pressure that came oyt of the footwell jets?  Did you think it was weak compared to the pressure that came out of all the other jets.  I really did like the size, seating arrangements, and the control you have in this tub.  But I did notice that stinging sensation you get from using air to increase the pressure of the jets, something I never felt with the Marquis.

I am sorry chas I meant to say a foot dome.  I will say this chas I felt the Hot Spring dealer has made me feel the most comfortable in the showroom, but I dont know if I felt that way because I have heard so many great things on this forum or because they were that good.  They are also right in my neighborhood.  The Artesian spa was very nice but I have to go to another state to get it.  The dealer was also very nice and claims to do a lot of business in my area.  I am sitting in flux right now.

I thought the foot jet pressure was fine, remember, you can adjust the flow and the air mixture. I found the entire package acceptable. Nice unit...

hottubber,
What is your opinion on out of state sales?  Ever sell a spa to someone on Long Island?  I went to an Artesian dealer in Jersey on Sunday.  He seemed like a good guy.  I like the spa and almost bought the Piper, but I had reservations about buying it from someone 55 miles away.

At a minimum I'd get in writing what the trip charge would be if they have to get out to your place for service. You'd also have to worry about how quickly they got out to see you; these are the kinds of things to discuss before you buy. At that distance I'd make sure its a very reputable dealer.

I wouldn't have a problem with going out of state providing there is no local dealer. I would be right up front with you regarding travel charge for spa service. It would be based on the distance OUT of my regular marketing area.

Did you use the diverter valve to adjust the foot jet intensity?  It diverts flow between the 4 rotating foot jets (in the dome) and two whirlpool jets (one in foot dome and one at step area).  So, for more powerful foot jetting you can either:

A/  Divert the flow to the rotating foot jets exclusively (one pump through 4 jets), or

B/  Divert the flow to the center whirlpool (or volcano) jet and manually shut off flow to the second whirlpool jet.

Either way you should get some pretty good pressure.

Cgar, I see you are a dealer, how do you feel about the Artesian line in terms of quality, and dealing with the manufacturers customer service department.

Will answer for Cgar cause his office is right next to mine and he's gone for the week,  :P

The Artesian Gold and Platinum series quality is on par with some of the bigger brands. The manufactures customer service is top notch.

I agree.  I sell Hot Spring and Artesian and the Artesian is an excellent value.

How is the ozone in the platinum series I heard it probably needs to replaced every year is this true.  Is it a disposable unit, in which you can not replace the light?

I cannot YET compare quality but I'm 6'3"+ and have dry tested the Coleman (formerly MAAX) 480 series (480, 481, 482) and the lounge was a great size...not floor jet but large floor well space.
