hello all- really appreciate the info on this board. we have finally narrowed down our search to a jacuzzi j-385/coleman 480 series or sundance cameo. We've been looking at '04s, but wanted to see if anyone had info on the '05's and if they know if there will be a price increase planned on these models or other major changes in them! thanks

Elementary my dear watson... ::)
I can tell you that most manufacturers north of the boarder witnessed about a 6-10% increase due to material costs skyrocketing.

From what I've seen of the 2005's on the Sundance web site, there are new features like waterfalls, different filtration, and such that could contribute to price increases as well as the reasons Steve mentioned, which I'd be guessing hit the "southies" too.

The 05 Colemans went up due to the steel frame. I don't think the Jacuzzi's have had a price increase.
Spahappy :D

What do you mean Spahappy?
They've had the steel frame (galvalume) for quite some time now.
Are you saying they're using a different metal or is it that cost of the galvalume has gone up?

No they are using the same galvalume frame. The price of steel went up several times in 04 and they didn't pass the costs on untill the 05 product.
I also sell fireplaces and for awhile we were getting new price books every other week! Our fireplace prices just recenlty started to stablize.

Petroleum based plastics are also impacting the cost of spa manfacturing (or at least the component manufacturing).
D-1 went up 6% Coleman 6/8%.

I know of one spa company that is raising prices due to the fact they had to weld more support rails onto their trailer (I'm referring to their delivery trailer, not the one they live in).

Hmm, I wonder who that is...
