Title: Spa  filter cleaner
Post by: t6texan on February 28, 2005, 10:38:52 pm
Has anyone ever made a spa filter cleaner that flushes debries from filter pleats from the inside . I would like to make one if anyone has an idea how i can attach water hose to a sealed top and bottom to hold filter while it fills with water on the inside blowing debries out of pleats . i think this would make weekly filter cleaning a breeze.

let me know what  you think!

I have tried back flowing a cartridge filter, and found that it takes about as long to get it clean as it took to get it dirty.

There is a spinner thing I invented, but never patented, and somebody else beat me to market.....

It's about $100.

i think the problem with any type of back flow cleaning is that the low pionts that collect the most debris as water flows thru from outside-going in, become the high points when you send water thru from inside-going out. most of the pressure would be cleaning the cleanest part of the filter.
i have always had good luck with plain old brass hose nozzle, turned to wide angle spray pattern. cleans away 90-95% of solid debris in less than 30 seconds, add some degreaser, let it sit and spray again......
