Hi I am interested in buying a new hot tub....
The hot tub is for my roof top deck, so the hot tub shouldn't be very big. But because I don't want a big hot tub will I loose the quality? My favorite hot tub was the round beachcomber, but I was told that it is entry level and to not take the risk of using it on a roof top.
Am I wrong in thinking that I don't want too many jets will I regret my decision later?
Does anyone have some suggestions on the smaller models?
By the way I live in Canada...so cold weather is a factor too!
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

I think you would not go wrong with a Hot Springs Jetsetter. I have an 11 year old Hot Springs tub outside in Mass that although is having one of it's first problems ever it is very economical to run so would be fine for canadian winters.
I am not a dealer just a very satisfied customer.
Good luck Ivan

Is weight the issue or dimensions?
-
Size is an issue, most hot tubs seem to fall within the weight restrictions.
-
Softub has 2, 4, and 6 person tubs.
They're heating costs are quite low and they are quite inexpensive. However, you would have to have a 120V outlet available on your roof.
The dimensions are 59, 71, & 78 inches. Add another foot, foot and a half with the Hydromate (heater/pump) attached and there you go.
Hope that can be of some help to you.

I wet tested a Hot springs Jetsetter and it is pretty amazing as far as jets and comfort. its tiny, just big enough for one person, maybe two. also Caldera has one called the " Kaui" that is pretty sweet as well.....
that sounds pretty cool to put a hot tub on a roof, do you have a view off it?

Hydropool offers a few smaller spas worth checking out.

what a chance to plug your brand.... ;).....A nice 1 or 2 person spa is the hide away from Marquis...12 jets....standard 110 outlet plug in.....requires only a 30' standard door opening ...

We have no shame! ;D
I liked how we discussed in great detail the wide choices offered to consumers for smaller tubs and nonchalantly mentioned our brands... ;) ;D
It's an art really that few can do...

I agree with Meno. The 212 by marquis is a great little spa, also the 415 from marquis every day line is really nice,it seats four, has 15 jets, and like the 212 is also a 110 spa.

Wow thanks for the advice....even though some of it MAY be a bit biased?? I will check out the product...does any of these brands have a round tub? I just think that the round ones look cool.. especially for a roof top deck! but I haven't found one that is of high quality....hmmm bit of a dilema.
-
I forgot to mention that I am already getting the builder to put a 220 V on the roof so power is not an issue.
-
that is smart a thing to do and will give you more choices.....do you have a budget in mind.....

All Softubs are round.
Nordic offers 5 different round tubs.

ok a little bit of onfo from someone not as well informed as the dealers on here, but just a hottub owner. I have the marquis reward, but when we were originally looking round for a tub, looked at the everyday range from marquis, (as prev mentioned in this thread) the only reason we didnt go for that range, is that it came with proper wooden sides, and not the dura wood. The proper wood was a prob for us as the tub was going into a corner, so yes, we could have protected the two sides with varnish/whatever before we put it into place, but that then meant that we wouldnt be able to treat the wood afterwards.

Did I miss my chance to mention Beachcomber? ???
Shoot, I never seem to find enough time to actually post on here. :(
Beachcomber has some nice high quality/simple layout round tubs that are offered with different height and electrical options.
OK I'm done ;D

Can Spa,
Are you limited in size where the spa is going? That 212 is a nice LITTLE spa, if you have broad shoulders, it will be tight. Regardless of what you do, make sure you wet test the spa before you buy it. Marquis is a very good quality brand, if it fits your needs and budget, go for it. ;D

Hi Can_Spa,
There are many great smaller tubs out there to choose from. I personally think that the round Beachcomber seems like a great party tub. I'm pretty sure that you can get this unit with digital controls etc (although no Protec). If weight is an issue then the Softtub 300 might fit the bill. They seem well made and my wife has a client that has had one for years here in Guelph, Ontario and has moved it between indoors/outdoors and has been able to maintain the water temperature even in the dead of winter (i.e. right now!).
I think that Hot Tub Man may own one of these presently. Perhaps he might be able to give you some insight on its performance.
