Title: Web Hosting Sites
Post by: Brookenstein on June 17, 2006, 08:55:42 pm
I'm looking to start a website for my new business and don't expect a lot of traffic initially, so I don't need it ecommerce ready or anything.  I want it hosted at a fairly inexpensive site (<$8/mo probably) and I would prefer they have a decent selection of templates to choose from.

I've checked out a few
http://www.bluehost.com/
http://www.hostmonster.com/
http://www.dot5hosting.com/
http://www.startlogic.com/
http://www.ixwebhosting.com/
http://partners.powweb.com/powweb/index.bml

Does anyone have any experience with any of these sites?  What site do you use/have you used and what do you like/dislike about them?  Would you reccomend them?

TIA!
Brooke

I use Tripod, and their support is terrible.  My friend runs his av-cables.net on yahoo and he is happy, but I know he pays quite a bit more. Most of that is for ads and higher positions in searches I think.

Oh, yea all my hottub photos are there. (official forum relevance tie)

I pay an extra $10 per month to have my DSL provider host. I do all the work - I use Deamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, and Freehand to create my pages.

I use Yahoo which is $35/year and I have the step up which is $5/month more for no advertising.

I don't use the templates.  I like to go with straight html.

No pictures of hot tub yet.  We use it to sell our farm animals.  ::)

I think Google is coming out with something soon, or maybe already did. I have no direct experience with such a thing, but Google is so user friendly and well-made in everything else that it does, that I can only imagine it would be great.

I used 1&1 for a while, I was quite pleased.  You can get a hosting package for as little as $2.99/month.  [link]http://www.1and1.com[/link]
