Title: Does anyone run spa with cool water??
Post by: Guttboy on January 27, 2005, 12:26:34 pm
Hi everyone.....

This may be a really really stupid question...but my wife was asking me this question....Can you run the spa with cooler water...aka...on really really hot summer days in Texas she would like to be able to dip in a cooler temperature and get the benefits of the spa but without the temperature.....

So could you turn the heater off and run it that way?

Thanks in advance....

Mike :)

You don't necessarily have to turn the heater off, but I have turned mine down (Oklahoma can get just as hot)!

My hubby prefers the temp to be at 97 or lower!  Especially in the warmer months!

Thanks Lori,

So this doesnt "hurt" anything right?  I just think in the Texas Heat we are moving to...occassionally it might be nice for a Refreshing Dip in a much cooler spa.....

Id be curious if anyone else does this?

Regards,

:)

And your water won't go bad as fast either.   All those nasty critters that make water yuckky just love the warm water.   When the water is cold, you don't need as much chlorine.

Cool!!!!

I think that perhaps we may try this when we finally get our spa!....our house will be completed in june/july in San Antonio so it may be a bit hot there then...LOL

You can try to run the spa cooler in the summer time but do not except to be in the 80's. The pump running is enough to keep a better made spa at 100 in the summer if not hotter. All depends on filter time and how often the cover is off.

I tell people it is not a swimming and do think it will act like one.

I definitely turn mine down in the summer.  I found that the low 90s is still refreshing on a hot day.  You dont get to move around like a pool to keep warm so I found anything less than 90 was too chilly.  I also have a retractable awning that covers my spa for the summer months.  It really helps keep the temp down if you can keep the sun off the spa and it is much more refreshing on a hot day if your spa is in the shade.

Good posts thanks!

I realize this wont be a pool....we have one to get to in 1 min....but being able to adjust the temps in a varied range is great for us!

And remember, anything under 98 or so, will feel cooler to your body!  (It will be lower than your body temp!)
