Minus three....is that all!!!! I'm in Duluth Minnesota neighbor. Been a bit chilly lately, and we got snow up to our eye balls.

I took my kids and a few of their friends downhill skiing yesterday, the high was -9. :o

Counting the five of us and the three ski patrols there were only twenty skiers on the mountain. It was great having the runs to ourselves, but the chairlift ride up was frigid.

I didn't warm up untill I soaked in my spa last night. 8)

Not that this is a competition or anything ;)  but it is
-33C or -27F here today and YES, after four days without a soak, my wife and I are going to go for it this evening!

The key thing here is that there is no wind (i.e. windchill)... just need a touque and the right attitude!!!

Exiting will be fine but entry might be a little dodgey... ;D

Ok-I thought I was being hardcore and tubbing in extreme weather, but now I can see that my -3 adventure was no big deal.

I really don't think I would wish to try that -20 plus tubbing some of you have mentioned.

...actually....we chickened out  ;D

...it was simply too cold out there... -25 without a wind seems to be the 'cut-off' point....

....Hopefully tomorrow we'll get back in

I have done -21 F before and you need a hat because even the hot water will not keep your ears warm. -29 last night and I have not had a soak for 4 days. Big warm spell coming at 5 above for monday into tuesday.

We've had some sub zero opportunity in the last few days, but too much wind, so we had to give it a miss.
Tomorrow's high is 30F.  I can't wait.

I think this is a conversational topic for this forum. What is the coldest temperature that you have used your spa in? I can't get over some of the responses regarding temperature. How do you get from the house to the hottub?
I went in my spa last night after returnig from the Philadelphia Eagles game. After a couple of beers and a day full of cold, windy weather, 25 degrees. I had to warm up. I sat in the spa for about 40 minutes at 102 degrees. It was about 15 degrees at that time, the water was nice. When I got out, I couldn't even feel the cold.
What a beautiful thing. ;D

Tonight it's going to be -20F with a slight windchill of -25. But We did go in the tub when it was -36F which was an experience.  BRRRRRRR! But the warm water made it all worthwhile.

I've got that posted just above a pic of my hot tub on my office door to remind everyone here that all of the problems that they unload on me are irrelevant when I go home to my baby! LOL!

I used to bring a beer with me, that is until my beer started getting little icilcles in it. LOL! I now wait until I get out. I just checked the weather network and we are going to -25C tonight so that makes it -20F. And I'm a gonna go for a soak as soon as I get home.

My tub is 6' from my back door so for us it's a two step dash and you're in heaven. :D

doodoo...

I also own an Optima. How do you stay emersed enough in the water so that you don't get cold. Other than the therapy seat, all of the others are pretty high.
Do you just slouch down in the footwell? Especially when you're talking about minus 20 F.
Tonight will be my last soak for a while, Sundance dealer conference in the Bahamas. ;D

I also have the Optima.  Mrs. Brewman doesn't like the cold so when it's in the low teens or lower, she chickens out on the spa.  That gives me the therapy seat to myself, and not being the tallest person walking the planet, I can sit and stay warm.

The coldest I've done so far is just a few degrees below zero, farenheit.  If no wind is blowing, I have enough time to get out, close the cover and latch it, grab the towel and get a bit dried, then walk up the deck steps into the house, where I finish drying.

A couple weeks ago we took a couple glasses of soda pop into the spa (not doing the alcohol thing that nite).
The pop was a bit slushy from having been sitting in the garage, so it was close to freezing when we went to the spa.  As we sat, my cup of pop froze almost solidly.
So I immersed the cup in the spa water, until all but about 2 inches of the cup was in the water, waited about 5 minutes, and it thawed enough to sip.

It was a pretty funny sight, us sitting there holding plastic cups in the water.

The Labatts stays thawed if you hold it just above the water line. The problem is the half rack sitting next to the tub. National news! -50 F in Northern Minnesota, yes sir-re. The air was a bit brisk, had to get out a sweater. I only had -31.....wimp.

tman. I can take a lot but at at -50 that is getting a little to cold for me. Must have broken some record.

hottuber. He who I obey is height challenged. so when it gets cold I get the deep seat. If she desires the therapy seat then I move on to the one with the four jets and slouch a bit. What mine is hers and what hers is well........I move on.  ;D

We just got our Caldera Elation this week and never really got to enjoy a hot tub in cold weather.  My family and I went out tonight and it's about 2 degrees farenheit and the wind was blowing so hard the mist in my hair started to freeze.  None the less it was wonderful!!!!!  Wish I hadn't waited so long to get one......and they said I wouldn't use it..........

It's about 0F here tonight, -17F with the windchill factor, and we will go out there in a few minutes.  The coldest we have been in the spa was about a -10F + a windchill factor bringing temp down to -20F!  But when there is no wind, even at -15F it doesn't feel very cold, EXCEPT when I remove my robe to get into the water ;)

At those temps, we just keep everything we can under the water, sliding down until the mouth is barely above the water line ;D  I also like very much to float in the footwell because it feels so strange but great to be swimming in the mist of the winter.  Since we don't get hot as fast, we stay in much longer.  My hair get stiff with ice too!  I still can't understand how people in California and such want and have spas, and why so few people up here have them ???  Come on, it has been much nicer to use it since fall then it was in summer, way too hot then!

+28 degrees here, chilly ...-28.. nope, ain't gonna do it, can't make me, couldn't drag me outside, not a prayer, couldn't get enough beer out there..besides it be frozen..ya'll go on and I'll sit inside and count the days until Nascar 8)

I bet if you took a few swigs out of the beer container, and poured in a shot of wild turkey or other high proof whiskey in there, it would reduce the freezing point.
Might be an interesting experiment for someone up north.

The wife and I got in the tub last night.  It was something like 15 degrees here in Maryland, but the wind was blowing pretty hard so I'm sure the wind chill was significant.

At first, we were hesitant to get in when it was so cold... but my wife had a great idea.  I got in the tub and she showed up a few minutes later wearing...

earmuffs.

You all are some sturdy eskimos.  I couldn't even imagine living in your climates.  When it gets below 40F here, we call that damm cold!   -25F,  holy cow!   Is the rest of the year worth it, to have to endure your miserble winters?
I can now understand why spas are such a hot topic for many of you.

It was already 2 when I got up yesterday so I didn't get to do any sub zero tubbing yet.   Let me ask you this about where you live ???  Have you snow skied and golfed in the same hour?

I went out the other night (about 10 F) with a very slight wind.  My face felt frost bit.  I did not enjoy it at all.  How do you keep your face from freezing in that bitter cold?

I try and limit my zero degree soaks to time where there isn't much wind blowing.  I have thought about rigging up some type of portable wind block too, but have not do anything toward that just yet.
I suppose you could put on a face mask to protect the face, if you don't mind the burglar look.

Temperatures of -20 F although common, are not the norm. Our climate (meaning average weather) is not so extreme. We as northern inhabitants are quite accustomed to these temperature ranges---they in part define us :)

When my wife and I have our 'soak' we just wear a touque and that's it... :)

And no, we do not look like 'robbers' as the full-face mask is unnecessary.

To turn things around a bit, on a recent trip to Orlando my wife and I found the heat and humidity almost unbearable....I guess the point is that you become accustomed to your environment and any change to it regardless of temperature increases/decrease is quickly felt!

We love the cool nights for tubbing and are curious to whether we will use our tub this summer with as much interest!

I'm with you JC, I'd rather have to dress for the cold than stay cool in the summer heat, (probably due to my age.)

You'll still use your spa in the summer but the temp will be set lower. I keep mine around 95 in the warmest weather. That's still lower then your body temp. I love early morning like 3:00 am soaks in the summer.

The funny thing is that 22 above must have almost felt warm after getting a taste of -50º below. Anyone living in a cold area knows how relative temperature is when it comes to comfort. I can always remember the end of winter when it finally would hit 50º out after a long winter and we'd run out in t-shirts like it was summer time. Then in the fall the temperature drop to 50º outside after a hot summer and we'd make sure we had a coat on due to the temperature drop.

If I could trade all of this cold miserable winter weather in Wisconsin for lets say a San Diego type climate, I would in a heartbeat.

But having to work live and having been raised here it is home at least until I retire.

So in the mean time I am glad I have my Caldera Spa.

And 0-and above without a strong wind aint to bad at 104-degrees in the tub.
