Well, I finally have the ph and TA balanced. I added chlorine 2 days ago and over did it. The reading showed that the level was very low. Since it had most likely been low for a couple of weeks, I decided to hit it with extra chlorine. Now, it is very high. Do I just wait it out or is there a way to reduce the chlorine level. What will a high chlorine level do to me when I soak tonight?

If you get in a high chlorine tub you may see some skin irritation on your lower extremeties (in the water more)P The higher the temp, and the longer you stay in, the worse it can be.

Just let your wife get in a few minutes before you.
Works for me...

ya what Chas said. Actually I usually just let it come down it self. I have not had any skid irritations so far. I find with in a use or two its back down.

If possible, open up the cover and run the jets for a bit.

Lori is bang on.
That said nothing lowers a cl reading faster than bathers. 1PPM/15 minutes/ person (150-175lbs.)

Thanks all. I will try all of the above - toss wife in first, leave off cover and run jets and then hop in myself. Skin issues or not, I will be in tonight having a couple of beers celebrating the NY JETS win over the chargers.
GO JETS!!!

I've heard to use peroxide to lower the chlorine level. Don't know if it works!

It should as Hydrogen Peroxide is a powerful oxidizer. However, in the concentration most people can buy it in, I think the amount required to do anything significant would be considerable.
I agree with Lori... Leave the lid open and run the jets for awhile.
Although, tossing the wife in.... Also not a bad idea. ::)
