Mine is set at 102F. Someone told me lastnight that I should never have it above 99F in the winter because of possible damage to heart and kidneys. Sounds like bunk to me but I haven't been able to find any real information.
What do the pro's say about it.?
-
Bunk, ask to see their phd in medicine....
104

I would say that is completely bunk.We have our tub set at 102 and my kidnys and heart are still working just fine.

agreed bunk, they wouldn't sell tubs if that were true. 102 most of the time, on days like today at 15F and a light snow fall with no wind its 104 so I can enjoy the weather for 30 minutes or so.

How old is your tub? They don't them capable of setting to 106 anymore...
-
I keep mine at 99-101. I prefer 101,the wife likes it at 99-100.
104 ok,but I can only tolerate it that hot for about 10 minutes.
-
I find 102 to be the right mix for me....after 20 minutes or so I sweat......but still comfortable enough for me to stay in....If you have health issues check with your doctor....

At 99, I would ask, what brand of lukewarm tub do you own ? ;) Tonight I'll be soaking at 104 withan outside temp of between 0-5F, I'll bet you could take 104 for more than 10 minutes that way.
-
When mine actually has water in it, I keep it at 99-100.
But it doesn't get super cold here in California either.

hotter than anyone as of yet has mentioned..............

How hot can you go Dr? At Sycamore Mineral Springs I used to be able to handle 106.

Hey hey hey !! Sounds like a challenge here !!

How hot can I go? Or my hot tub?
Actually, I think I'd perfer to not answer either on the grounds that I might get flamed by some of the other pros here ;D
I will tell you though that I did 110, about once a week, many years ago at some natural hot springs in southern California, and my business partner experienced 115 some years ago in Japan.

Ever go to Sycamore Mineral Springs in Avila Beach CA near San Luis Obispo? They pump sulfur mineral water to redwood tubs. I used to work there in College. It's heaven.

1 week old, J-365, easy modification- took 5 seconds.
Japan hot spring experience and Japanese wife.

Just bumped ours to 102 since it is getting colder.

31 here in N. Fla. this a.m........just bumped it to 100 and it felt great.....
I have a theory that preferred tub temp is proportional to one's natural body temperature. My natural body temp is about .8 - 1.0 degrees below 98.6. Could this partially explain why some prefer lower tub temps? Otherwise, I think preferred length of soak is also a factor......30 minutes minimum for me.......and only if I'm on a schedule........otherwise, 45 min. to 1.5 hours...... 8)
-
Ours never goes below 100. After all it is called a hot tub. Even in 80-90 degree days 100-101 is refreshing.

.....eye of the beholder..... ;)

102 ... even when it was 95 in early October (when we got the hot tub).
This brings up another thought. A friend says he turns his tub's temperature down to 92 when he gets out, then 20-30 minutes before he gets in the next time he turns it up to 101. He says he does this to save energy. Any truth? Which would be better energy-wise, constant temperature or the way he does? What about wear and tear on the heater? Which would be better?

It's actually probably costing him more to do this in addition to the inconvenience and like you said wear on the heater. It’s kinda like the difference between stop and go in-town driving and highway miles on your car…

102...and it stays there.

Hey Gomboman. Yes, I've been to Sycamore many times.
It's my favorite place to go when I'm in Pismo.
My girlfriend and I will rent one of their tubs for an hour or so. I love the ambiance there.

Don't tell that manufacture, they'll negate your warrenty! ;)

I hope you've already had kids!
-
the effect only lasts about 24 hours, and isn't 100%..........
-
99 in the summer and 103 in the winter and put on a nice warm hat when it snows 8)
-
100-102 depends on the season

It is a simple fix with a resistor. I do not need no sticking warranty.

I guess I' the only odd-ball here....103

Oh Bunka, you know that isn't true! ;)

This week has been a good week to commision a study on this subject ;D Earlier this week, had a great soak at 104 with the outside temp of 6F. The next day it was 18F, but windy so we didn't stay out. Last night it was 35. Tonight we should have a foot of snow to deal with and Christmas morning they are predicting -5F.
-
I used it at 104 when it was 20 outside. Besides not being able to pee, I am fine. ;D
