Title: What A Week! It must be Christmas!
Post by: stuart on December 19, 2004, 10:34:46 pm
Wow! I don’t know where to begin here, first, my oldest daughter (21) was pregnant (my first Grandchild) and due on Valentines Day but the event has been slightly overshadowed with the news that the baby tested positive for downs. She went in for a check up and was told the baby was in distress and they checked her into the hospital. At 3PM today Kai Alexander was born weighing 2 lbs 13 oz and no signs of downs yet in fact they are thrilled with his health considering how small he is. Give it a few years and I hope he will take over these posts for me….

Add to this our annual Christmas party where I host about 40 people at a pricey dinner and awards banquet for employees and contractors complete with Hummer limos and games!

Add to this the rat race of the season and getting ready for the Marquis dealer conference in 2 weeks in Cancun!

And finally I hit 1000 posts here at the same time! ;) :o

IS IT CHRISTMAS OR WHAT!!

Back to the baby…, it always amazes me that Dr’s don’t consult God before advising?! I had few doubts that we had him on our side no matter how it turned out but I’m still thrilled and relived that things have gone so well.  :)

Well I doubt I will hang out here much tonight, after all it is getting late and I'm a Grandpa now! 8)

Thanks guys for giving me another outlet to keep my mind off of the hectic load I've had all week and otherwise keeping me occupied!

What a great Christmas present for you and your family.

I hope everyone is well. My best friend weighed just over 2 lbs at birth and now resembles Mendo in size! ;D

Congrats GRANDPA! :D

Congrats. Getting old isn't always fun but there are a few rewards such as the birth of grandchildren and the senior discount at restaurants.

I tried the "senior discount because I'm a grandpa" at the hospital cafeteria and they refused!  :( ;D

Congratulations Stu

 ;)

You have no Idea!!

If I gave up on this baby every time the Dr.'s told us how bad it was going to be I could have written a book on depression!!

Just to give you an example; the technician doing the amino test called and left the message on my daughters recorder at home that it was positive for downs :'(and said she should call the Dr. (to say I became less than popular to the medical world here that day would be an understatement! :-X) Talk about potentially causing a miscarriage.....! >:(

So yes, your very right…. Go God!!

Ya know gramps, the best thing about having a grandchild is you can spoil them, and send them home.

Congratulations to you and yours. You're in my prayers and thoughts.

BTW when I was born a few decades ago, I was cut off from oxygen during the birth. The Doctors told my parents I would have permanent brain damage. You can draw you own conclusions on that one.

Lab tests are wrong and results get botched often enough. Keep your faith, Christmas is the time for miracles.

Spahappy :D

Congratulations Stewart!  I'm so glad to hear that mother and baby are doing well.  I'm aware of at least 3 false positives in the pre-birth downs testing.  My wife and I went through the whole genetic counselling experience despite the fact that we told the docs that we wouldn't be ending the pregnancy (killing our baby) for any reason.  Someone is in charge of the whole process, and it sure isn't us humans (thankfully)!  At any rate, our son Jonah just turned 3 and has been the healthiest, most vibrant boy you could imagine!  If we had acted on the docs/genetic counsellors advice there would be no Jonah today.  That's something that I cannot even fathom.

P.S. - spoil that boy rotten Stuart, and have a blessed Christmas!

How time fly’s, our baby just turned 16, she's already got her beginners and.... asked which car she can learn to drive with :o. Maybe one of the delivery trucks (with out a tub) till she's got the hang of it :o :D ;D

Wishing you and your family God's richest blessings this Christmas.

Stuart,
Congratulations!!!! I wouldn't even have the blood test for birth defects because of the false results and I did not want the choice! ( And I used to be a medical technologist!) But also on the bright side and to bring a smile, your daughter now has a tax deduction for the year!
Let us know how it goes!
Jan

PS- We drove by a hummer limo this week, what are they like inside? Got pool tables and spas in there? What is the mileage? 2mi/gal? ;)

They're pretty cool! I rented one of those and an Excursion Limo to take my crew out. The Management team rode with me in the Hummer while the rest of the crew rode in the Excursion. After looking in the Excursion I think we got shorted by choosing the wrong limo for the top dogs! ;D

Everyone had a great time and felt very appreciated....that's what it was all about.

Ok, that is great, but the Corvette was meant to be a 2 person car, period!!!

What a desecration to a beautiful car!
