Well, I know this question has been asked many times before, but....... We are considering getting a new spa and after a brief search are considering the Caldera Martinique and the Sundace Marin. I am hoping someone has one of these and can offer insight as to the quality. Also, If anyone can suggest other options I would greatly appreciate it. We are somewhat limited on space. We are looking at the less than 7k range. Thank You

I would look at the Artesian Ruby
-
Marquis Reward, Everyday series 636 or the D1 @ home series Dream HP.

I was not going to recommend this since you only asked about Caldera and Sundance but since others gave you some different options....heres mine...Marquis Quest....I think it is a fantastic spa and well with in the your budget.....I really like the Quest....

The two spas you're looking at are very good. You'll find many will give opinions of others to consider. Good luck. Take your time, wet test and make an informed decision.
-
and of Course Master Spas/Downeast has several models in the price range you are looking at.

Civicmx3,
Comparing the Marin and the Martinique:
The design between the two is extremely similar. The lounge seats in both units are designed for people less than 5’6’’ in height. If you are taller than that, you may want to look at other brands or models or wet test to make sure you fit in the lounges of both.
I would consider the filtration in the Sundance better than in the Caldera. There are a few reasons for this: One is the Micro-Clean filtration that Sundance offers and secondly the weir door that traps the debris in the filter area. The Caldera does not offer either of those items. The Caldera filtration is similar to the Tiger River filtration, but not the same as the Tiger River filtration.
The Sundance also offers 2 – 2.5HP Motors versus the Caldera’s 2 – 2.0 HP Motors. I personally would never purchase a spa based on horsepower of the motors, but many consumers want to know the difference in the specifications. Sundance also offers an air blower that Caldera does not offer. In regards to the quality of the pumps and motors: both manufacturers offer great warranties on those items.
The Sundance Marin offers two control panels; one on each side of the spa. The Martinique only offers one control panel.
In regards to the heater, the Sundance and Caldera both offer unconditional warranties on this item. The Sundance uses a titanium element, where as, the Caldera uses a stainless steel element. The Caldera element is the same element in the Tiger River spas.
Please ask if you have any additional questions.

Chris,
They asked for suggestions.

Lori,
I changed it because you were right.

P.S. Chris
Great comparison!!!

Correction the element on the Caldera is a an incoloy, NOT a stainless steel heater. The heater has a 5 YR unconditional warranty. Honestly the Tahitian Utopia series is a better comparisson model to the marin when you look at them feature for feature.

Poolboy34,
Thanks for the correction. Is it the same element as the Tiger River?
Thanks,
Chris

not sure on that one, but I know it's the same Laing fast flo heater that D-1 uses on their spas. Very reliable and efficient. Watkins also uses a version of this heater on their hot Spring line, although it has a different shape.

I thought the same thing.

I liked the Martinique better than any other Caldera, but the dealer refused to fill it for a wet test so I bought a Catalina and am very happy with it.

Very good Steve. But next time lets try using proper sentence structure shall we. Remember: nouns and verbs are our friends.
It would be better to say:
"You can bite me." ;)
