As most of you know, I am working in Denver and commuting to Indynoplace. (I mean Indianapolis)
Anyway, my car was broken into while at work and the only thing they stole was my car registration and insurance card. They smashed the passenger window and new exactly what they were looking for. Of course I got off work at 11p.m.
So I filed a police report and put a fraud alert out on my credit report. Also informed my insurance company and my local BMV office.
I will be sending a copy of the police report to the credit bureaus along with a letter.
I will also request another copy of my credit report.
Can anyone think of anything else?
Hopefully I can curtail this real quick.
For those of you who keep those kind of papers in the car all the time you might want to reconsider.
Wish me luck,

you still have both plates on your car??

Can they access your credit card(s) with the information they have? That is the only other thing I can think of. Never been in your shoes, though. Good luck.

I didn't think there was much info on these things. Here in NJ they do put your drivers license # on the registration.
Is this something that happens in the Midwest ... what's the pupose?
The ONLY thing I would be concerned about is them knowing where I live ... but I come from New York City and we are a paranoid bunch when it come to crime!

Might also call the insurance company to let them know (I presume you did to report the break in). Might want to get a new policy number.
Maybe they use the info to traffic in stolen cars in some way?
I always carry that info on me now. Try not to leave it in the car.

Boy what a @#*$$&@!!!*%# week.
Between the headaches getting the window replaced, had to take a different flight so got home later than planned. Neighborhood took a lightning strike, lost the alarm system, cable modem, router, and either net card.
Had to deal with BMV to get new registration. Had a mechanical for my flight back to DEN. Car battery died so needed a jumpstart. And to top it all off, miss read my work schedule and showed up 2 hours early.
I am glad this week is over!!!!!!!
