Title: Proper chemical adjustment order
Post by: Chops1857 on June 25, 2019, 08:58:01 am
Ok folks, hot tub should be delivered today and I have my needed chemicals. I largely understand the order I am going in, but I do have a few gaps in my understanding. I believe I will go in the following order:

1. Add a metal treatment
2. Adjust hardness (I have soft water)
3. Adjust alkalinity/ph (I have very alkaline water and high ph (230/11))
4. Add my salt and begin the adjustment process for my salt/bromine generator.

Sound correct? Not sure when to add stain and scale remover or if I should yet.

I prefer to have the pH / Alkalinity adjusted first prior to metal sequestering agent applications.  In all - when the pH and alk are in line, almost everything tends to work at its peak effectiveness.

Yep, tman, you are. Sadly. Smelly water, too.

Tub is filled. I’ve added metal gon and started on the hardness. My dad, despite my multiple requests to stay the hell out of the tub, decided to get in when no one  was around. The salt system isn’t on yet. No sanitizer. I’m pretty annoyed. Probably not too big of a deal though, yeah?
