Title: Water question/issue
Post by: guardrail22 on April 08, 2018, 04:55:48 pm
New Artesian South Shore 965L. IFrog built it.  Started up and has run well with minimal issues.

Last week we drained and refilled. Cleaned filter and replaced chlorine and silver cartridges. Our well has excellent water.  A bit on the hard side. Everything in EPA spec though manganese is marginal.

The day we filled it chemistry was right on. Got in that evening and again later that night. Bathing suits are hot tub only.

New days the water is green. Switched over to continuous filtration and shocked. Nothing is clearing it up. Test strips are spot on.

Ideas?

I know you said your well water is good, but if it started clear and the next day it’s green, my guess is there is copper in the water and either by adding shock or chlorine the reaction that occurred is why it is now green.

Is it cloudy green or clear green?  Clear green is likely due to copper reacting with an oxidizer.  Cloudy green means you need to hit it with a healthy dose of chlorine, maybe a couple.

Definitely cloudy.

Water analysis shows copper at <.05 with a limit of 1.3 mg/liter.

So what cause cloudy green?

I take it beck. Very clear.

So is something in the tub in the flow path of the water made of copper failing?

How do we get copper out?

There is an inline filter you use when you add the water.

Definitely this is needed...Or at least a metal reducer added upon initial fill of the spa.

Bottle of metal-out and a $15 carbon filter for your hose, both available on Amazon for quick delivery.  Good luck!

Looking into chelants to get it out.

My well analysis shows 0.05 mg/l copper so concerned it’s not coming in with the refill. Sellers tech coming next week.

Is this the filter?

Can it really take out such a small trace?
