Come on in the waters fine. Feel free to post a question. No commitment to register. Bounce something off of us. Give us something to do....please.

Why aren't you in your hot tub?
-
OK but remember you asked.. What is the best way to move a hot tub?
-
empty.......
-
I think I knew that one ::). seriously, how best to move it 8-10 feet.?
-
Make sure to unplug it first....
-
What kind of spa is it? This does matter as far as how you cart it and lift it. Also, what part of the country are you? There are several spa moving companies that may be worth your while paying. They have the equipment and knowledge.
-
solid ground with no obstructions in the way, I helped my dealer move in the tub and they used heavy duty conduit (pvc) to slide the tub into the notch I cut into my deck, moved around real easy then just eased them out from under the tub.
-
is it OK to ask "why"??
-
Delivery of tub is this Friday ;D
Slab where tub to go is not ready >:(
Will have to put tub on other slab (in front of back door) till the new slab is ready. so I will have to move it into place at some point. And before you ask, no cannot cancel/postphone delivery.
I was trying to figure out how to do this.

It is a Sundance Cameo and in SC

Awesome Tub-- Beautiful State 8)
Good Luck with the spa.

Without knowing more, can you:
Leave the tub up on it's side next to the slab? Once it's ready simply lay it down?
Set the spa on PVC as was mentioned above and roll it.
Set the spa on plywood and scoot it.
Have the dealer loan you a dolly and a guy to help.
Pay a dealer to do the job.
-
OK, rolling it on PVC works great but only with the spa setting flat. If you try to roll it on anything on its side you will damage that cabinet. You can go to HomeDepot, Harbor freight or lowes and buy a 4 wheel dolly for about $20 or to your local rental yard and rent it for about $5 a day. Place plywood sheets over any rough terrain or uneven surface, put the dolly in the center of the footwell and roll it in place.
We've even used a furniture dolly on both sides in a pinch and moved them that way. I would offer the delivery crew a spiff to come back a week later and move it after hours provided the dealer doesn't mind this. Remember that you will still probably need the dolly as it wouldn’t be fair to the dealer to put the wear on his equipment without him making anything on it.

Don't mean to change the subject, but Stuart what is a "spiff"? :-/
-
2 inch wide nylon eye to eye straps 12 feet long and 4 guys, and beer.
-
Had thought of the PVC pipe thing but... can/how long can the tub sit on them without causing undo stress and maybe cause cracks in the shell? I'm thinking this may take a few days to "work out". Of course if it is alright to sit on the PVC that long I would prop it so it would not roll off. ;)
-
Dial up my dealer and get him to move it. I'm to old to do this.
-
SPIFF - a tip to delivery crew addition to their normal hourly wage. Some salemen get spiffs. Get a little "extra" to push one make/model over another.
Neighbor down the street needed her tub moved off a deck to a pad, and locals wanted too much for her budget (spa came with the house).
The solution? Son plays HS football. Got 6 of the linebackers over one afternoon, moved the spa, and then got a cookout afterwards.

The dealer won't reschedule or you cannot? Sure seems like the best/easiest thing to do......

Easier - yes but due too many variables not possible. I figure if the tub could sit on the PVC for a day or 2 (have the delivery guys put it on them) then me and a few of my freinds could roll it to the real location and all will be right with the world ::)
What I'm not sure about is if leaving the tub on the PVC for those few days will due harm to it or not.

Give them some cash on the side. Spiff is a cash (or should be) bonus outside of the normal pay for someone to reach a goal or accomplish a feat.
There is also the noun spiff, "commission on the sale of an undesirable or out-of-fashion article". That usage is first recorded in 1859. Eric Partridge felt that all of these words were related, suggesting that spiff is an echoic word referring to the sound made when someone or something is struck.

Now you've got me curious. I need to move my spa over about 18" on the same concrete pad. I never gave it much thought, but I was planning on just scooting it the next time I empty it. Is scooting a bad idea or impossible to do? It's a Marquis Euphoria if it makes a difference.
-
When the delivery guys brought out Optima they 'scooted' it about 6 feet on our concrete pad once the had it down from the upright position. The thing is pretty heavy but the two of them moved it on their own.

One of our regulars came in and said she used Golf Balls. Sorta like that PVC thing...just lots of golf balls
