one of my dogs just ran across my cover. now i have two small holes in it. what can i use to patch it that doesn't look really bad. >:( >:( >:( >:(

Might I suggest Doghide?!
Most dealers either stock a vinyl repair kit or they can order it. Should cost less than $20 but you want to get that patched before you start soaking in rainwater.

My first thought was silver duct tape but I like your idea better.

The most important thing to patch is the vapor barrier: open the cover and close up any holes in the vapor barrier with some heavy packing tape or similar.
The vinyl can then be patched with a patch kit.

That would have been it for my dog, it would have been a sad day but the little critter would have been coming close to seeing his maker.

That was kinda my thought. Skin the dog alive, and use the tanned hide as a patch.
