Title: hot tub heater

A friend of mine gave me a hot tub

when I activate my jets, my circulator pump shuts off, problem is the heater element turns on and gets so hot it trips the hi limit cause there is not water flow though heater because of circulator pump turn off,......is that a normal function for circulator pump??

Is your tub powered off 120V or 240V?

what kind of tub?  Is there a flow/pressure switch?  The heater should not be turning on if there is no flow
