Title: Silk Balance - do I need it?
Post by: goscottgo on August 05, 2016, 10:18:27 pm
Hi All,

I just had a brand new Hot Springs Relay with ozinator delivered today.  The dealer provided chlorine, activate, and Silk Balance.  I looked up Silk Balance online and it is quite pricey.  Question is, do I really need to use it?  Is there a more cost effective alternative that you would recommend?

bonus question: The dealer did not provide any water test kits. Should I test my water before jumping in the first time?

No you don't need it. A more cost effective alternative is, don't use it. Yes you should test and balance your water. But you don't have to.

Need it? No.  Snake oil? No. Does it help the water feel nicer? Yes. Does it help prevent biofilm build up? Yes?

My recommendation? Use your free bottle.  Then after your 1st drain and refill try it without.  Then decide.
