Title: Chemicals before or after party

I am having a couple and their young kids over and was wondering if I should wait to add my bromine and shock until after they leave so there is less chemicals in the water or should I have all the chemicals balanced before and after?

 Make sure PH/Alk are good, and nuke it afterwards..
