Hot tub is so nice. Fricking electric bill no so nice. Went from $157 for 2 months to $295. Nothing has changed except for the hot tub. So roughly $70 extra a month. I was hoping more like $40 based on what I read other people posting. Winter probably go to $90?

My bill is already $250-300 a month... my old tub would boost it $100 a month, hoping the new one is slightly more efficient.. but not expecting much less.
Going to try and get rid of the aquarium and the extra freezer in the garage, and yell at my kid for leaving his power hungry PC running while he sleeps and goes to work. lol Maybe we can get close to break even.

How high are your rates? What do you have filter cycles set for

Initial heat up, heavy use, drying more towels, using more lights, water pump, music. Give it a year to get an idea on monthly cost.

I used 2,473 KWH last year same time 1,750 KWH. My bill is $285 after my $10 late charge forgot to pay the last bill. So it looks like I have an average of about 11.5 cents per KWH.. I think I did that right. The bill is confusing with different rates for different usages and summer and winter rates. (Seattle City Light)
It's about what I expected. To offset it I got rid of my directv which was about $80 a month. Went back to an over the air antenna and receive about 16 channels. Good enough.

I'll have to check to see what the filters are set at it is what the factory set it to.. Whatever it is it seems to be working. I followed the instructions on the chemicals, shock it almost every day water looks good, don't stink, no scales and the readings on the test strips are good. I will upgrade to that other kit I read about - Taylor K2006

I would agree with this, also what temp you are keeping it at also will apply. Filtration wise 4 hours even 2 hours a day should be enough considering you have a circ pump.

102 degrees. I will adjust to 2 hours a day. Thanks for all the replies.

Wow. I should consider myself lucky. Our hot tub has cost us only $26-$30 a month for the last three months. And we use it almost every night. We'll see what happens when it gets a lot colder

Seattle. I don't think this is more than the norm. Kind of like its 8" but it's really 4".

I think the combination of heating it up the first time and running the filter cycles too much is probably the culprit. Monitor it over the next billing cycle and see where you are at

Wow, I guess I'm lucky. I've been monitoring the daily usage on my AL power app and my bill hadn't gone up much at all. I am in AL though. But we've had quiet a few nights in the low 50s with upper 40s coming next week.(can't wait). But my settings are very conservative. I've been primarily using economy mode.(In aug it would actually rise a few degrees with no heater running) And my thermostat is set to 99. I've been running it 100 the last few weeks though. Also I'm only running 4 one hour filter cycles per day. Even at nights when it dips down into the 50s, I leave the heater off. I check it the next morning and my hot tub is still where I left it.

If anyone is so inclined, we installed a separate meter for the hot tub. The unit cost about $90 from EKM Metering. It tells us exactly how much electricity the tub is using. Not sure how much installation would be because our electrician installed it when he ran the power for the tub. But it's been a great asset
