OZONATOR.......I know mine has one but what does it do. how does it do it and do I just leave it to do its thing????
-
It creates ozone from oxygen.
It does this either through ultra violet light, or corona discharge.

And the ozone that is produced oxidizes bather waste and also disinfects, but only for the water that gets circulated so you still need a residual disinfectant in the water such as chlorine, bromine, Nature2 silver ions with MPS, etc.

You should also be aware that Ozonators have a limited life depending on model this may be 2-3 years before they drop off produciton of Ozone (some new models may last a little longer), and most have no indiction if they are just running and not producing ozone. There are glass reactive test tubes to detect ozone, but they cost about $20 per single use test kit, so it often makes more sense just to replace or refresh (some have a changable chip / module ) an ozonator of questionable age.
