PLEASE help!!!!!!!! My hubby and I are looking for a hot tub...approx £8-9000.00 to spend, (tubs are a wee bit more expensive over here!!), and have been looking at the Marquis euphoria, the everyday 636 and the Beachcomber 730. The main reason for getting one of these is that Stevie (that's the hubby!!) has a lower back injury (he's only 28!), and we thought that maybe he would benefit from hydrotherapy, but seem to have got a bit lost with all the sales jargon!!! Basically, we would like your thoughts and comments please. We have no children, and most times there will only be the two of us in the tub. He's 6ft 5, with a 56' chest (whew, yes, big man I hear you say!!lol), whereas I'm 5ft 3' so we want something that will be able to help Stevie with his back, without drowning me in the process!!!!!!! We dont have a vast amount of dealers in the area, so wet testing isnt always an option. Anyway, I found this website and thought it was fantastic, so please help, if you can !!! Thx, saz.

Hi saz and thanks for posting.
With the obvious difference in sizes, your tub purchase is critical in addressing this.
The #730 is a great tub but most of the seating in it is very deep. It's also pretty big. Have you looked at the #720?

Marquis is also a great tub and either way, you'll do very well.

Hi....
The Marquis Euphoria you are are looking at has several different seat heights I think there is a mix of seats on there that would work for the both of you...Both the Marquis as well as the beachcomber you looking at are fine tubs...try them both to see what is best for you...
-
What pricing are you being quoted on the Marquis Euphoria?
-
thanx for the info people...I'll have a look at the 720 too. As for prices on the euphoria, I'm being quoted about £9000.......why, is this not a good price?
am I right in thinking that hydrotherapy WOULD benefit Stevie's back, and if so, any idea on what kind of jets and stuff we should be looking for,?
also, no comments on the 636 yet?????? is this a case of silence speaks volumes, or silence is golden ?!?!?lol

Hydro therapy will help your husband's back, but don't assume that the only benefit to his back is having water blasted at it! Soaking in the tub with no jets on can be very good as well. Therefore, don't purchase merely on jet size or power. That being said, Master Spas offer good and powerful jets with a good product. I'm not entirely thrilled with the neck jet collars (they make you feel a little trapped.) Between Marquis and Beechcomber that would be a no brainer for me. Beechcomber all the way! The Marquis looks like a much cheaper build and when I (I stress I) wet tested them, Beechcomber was a much better product! Good luck!

An excellent post by Drifter.
Often power and therapy are misunderstood. They are in no way similar and one has nothing to do with the other.
Having the ability to move the existing jets around in the spa is far more beneficial to the end user. You will find jets that spin, pulsate and most are varying in power and feel. Beachcomber gives you the ability to do this as some other brands do as well.
80% of the therapy will come from heat & buoyancy. Don't get oversold in huge numbers of jets and enough horsepower to run a dragster. ;)

Exactly why it's not that big of a deal to have a diverter.
In our Optima, if you have the main therapy seat on full blast, you feel like you'll get launched across the tub.
I almost never have any seat on full blast. Just too intense for me. To each their own, of course.

I would also suggest the Hot Springs Vanguard/Grandee, if it is available.
I wet tested the Marquis Reward (looking for Euphoria), Hot Springs Grandee, and the Sundance Optima.
The tub is a bit deeper (38 inches versus 35) and the seats are more bench than bucket. For the larger person, that may make a difference.

thanx v much all ......I'll try that........anyone got any feelings on a company called 'spa-form'????
-
Saz, as you know, I am also in the U.K.
For your guide, we have just purchased a Hotspring Envoy. I believe it retails at approx. £9500. We managed to get it for £7900 direct from Hotspring UK (with steps, cover, cover lifter, delivery and chemical pack).
Cheers

Thanx for this Gerry,
we're wet-testing a Marquis Reward tomorrow,and a spa-form prestige 50 and grand canyon on Sunday - a fun weekend for all!!lol I'll let you know the outcome.
Stoopid question No.1 - you got yours direct from hotspring?? want to give me a bit more info on that cos I didnt realise you could do that! I think that that's a pretty good price, especially with all the extras too.
thanx

by the way, which colour did you pick?

Hi SazNStevie, the only way you can buy a Hotspring here is direct from Hotspring, they have about 6 branches, but no other dealer is allowed to sell them in the UK (www.hotspring.co.uk). The price we got was because I told them that they were charging nearly double what the Americans could get them for. I told them that I understood that they had to ship it here and support it but I was not willing to pay double and they would have to come to a sensible price. My choice if they had not reduced would have been the Marquis as I think this was about £7,500.
Hope that helps!
We chose the blue, we loved the pearl but saw another make that had not been maintained well and it seemed to show dirt/grime too easily. We felt the blue would better mask this or scratches or any other kind of damage.

cheers gerry
have found a dealer about 60/70 miles away from us in Harrogate (we live in County Durham). Guess who's going to Yorkshire tomorrow!!!!

well guys and gals, ('specially Gerry and Keeley ;D)
We'd just like to say thanx for all the good advice you've given us over buying a hot tub. We went out today and managed to wet test 5 tubs!!!! We went to the Hotspring dealer in Harrogate UK, and the sales person was very helpful. They have a fantastic set-up there, and we were impressed with both their professionalism, and the lack of hassle they gave us......they were quite happy for us to walk in off the street, wet-test 4 tubs, and then walk out with a price list without giving us any heavy sales patter. We wet-tested the hotspring envoy, the vanguard, the hotspa mallorca and the caldera niagara Loved the envoy, not too keen on the vanguard - didnt really like the 'bench' style seating........wasnt keen on the niagara either - stevie felt as though he was 'locked' into the seat where the neck collar comes round, and quite liked the mallorca too - considering it's normally just gonna be the two of us, a pretty decent little tub.....However, that was before we went to the Marquis Spa dealer (Grand Rapids) in Cramlington, near Newcastle. Again, EXTREMELY helpful, no hassle, and a very professional outfit. Wet- tested the Reward there .... dealer had a bottle of wine chilled and waiting for us, (he was onto an immediate winner in my eyes there!!lol). We got in , and it was just ABSOLUTE BLISS!!!!! All I can say is that you just KNOW when you get into a tub if it's right for you or not. Dealer was extremely knowledgeable about everything (what we know about tubbing you could fit on the head of the pin, with room for War and Peace!!!), but didnt talk down to us as if we knew nothing. ( I have actually had this experience from another dealer, and lets just say he wasnt talking in a deep voice when I left the showroom!!!LOL)
I just cannot say how fabulous this tub was!!!! Dealer left us in the showroom to just kick back and enjoy the tub, and WOW, how fast does and hour and a half go by when you're in a tub ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ? Dont know if we should be naming names and areas and all that, but what the hell - it's all information isnt it!!
We were going to go and wet-test a couple of Spa-forms' tomorrow, but have decided not to bother...Reward is definately the tub for us!!!
many thanx again all
saz n stevie :D

Congrats, sazNstevie!!!
From what I understand from reading others remarks, sounds like you made a terrific decision!!!
May you always have hot, bubbly water!
-
Congatulations....It is really good to hear that you were treated well by more more than one dealer....I am a big Marquis fan...I hope it will give you many years of its soothing pleasures....enjoy.... :D
-
SaznStevie, glad you found the right tub for you.
Fun wet testing isn't it? !!
How long do you have to wait now? (cos believe me, that's the worst part!!)

Wine with your soak. What a concept huh! Our dealer invited us after sales hours to enjoy our future optima with our favotrite bottle of wine. OOOOOH YEAH!
Congratulations on your purchase.

well, we now have the difficult decisions of which shell colour to pick, which outside wood colour to pick, and which cover colour to pick!!! Decisions decisions!!lol Personally, REALLY liked the pearl interior, with the driftwood outside, and the charcoal cover, but we're also leaning towards the sahara/sand (can't rememeber name exactly!) interior, with the beech wood, and the wildwood cover!!!. Oh, the quandry!!!lol

Hi Saz
I have been in the pool / spa industry for over 30 years and seen things come and go ....
Take my advise and stick to you first thought of buying a Marquis Euphoria ... it really is a very special tub and has the added advantage of their trizone jetting system ... which will assist with your massage requirements.
Visit our web site at : www.marquis-spas-sussex.co.uk
I can't sell to you as you are out of our area ... but enjoy your new tub .....
-
Thanx for the advice, Pooldevil, but to be honest we decided we wanted a lounger....so the euphoria was out as it doesnt have one. I agree tho, it IS a lovely tub!!!
-
enjoy your new spa
-
well, the day has arrived when we've FINALLY decided on shell colour/wood surround colour/etc......we've gone for the pearl white, with the beech surround, so now all that remains is for us to actually order it from our dealer!!! (You know, the little unimportant things!!lol) Anyway, you just KNOW that this is gonna be one of those cases when the dealer advised us about 4-6 weeks delivery which we were fine with at the time, but now that we've come to order it, next weekend is gonna be too long to wait!!! Ah well, good things come to those who wait I suppose!!!
Happy tubbing everyone!

Well, keep in mind the dealer is probably only giving you info the factory tells them, or is based on his experience with the dealer. Things can change and deliveries can be pushed back. Not to rain on your parade too much :)
-
sorry, you misunderstand, what I meant was that while wet testing, we were ok about waiting as long as it took, but now that we're gonna order.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want it like YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!! Bu tI do understand that it's gonna take as long as it takes!
-
That is a great looking color combo....If it were me I would be sure to get the water light system it looks great with the pearl.....enjoy..... ;D
-
sazNstevie,
The wait can be a little agonizing! :-/
But just remember, it is WELL worth the wait. And when you get in for that first soak, the wait will be over, and you can have hot, bubbly water for many years to come!!!
Enjoy!
