I have snow on the ground and NO hot tub to jump into.
Very sad... :(

I read a recommendation that you sit in your tub to hold it down.

Why wouldn't it be? I have been in my tub @ minus 17 actual temperature without issues. Just don't stand around outside to long unprotected or frostbite is a possibility!  :-[

Can you say snow angels. The weirdest tingling feeling you will experience. Getting back in is heaven.
