Title: Cover maintenance
Post by: watzup on November 10, 2013, 01:47:54 pm
The outside is pretty simple, mild soap/water and a coat of 303.  The inside (bottom) grey material, I usually have to scrub it pretty much to keep the black (mold?) under control.  Was wondering how others keep the inside clean?  Would 303 be ok on the inside after a good cleaning??

Don't know about 303 underneath?? I use 303 on top and in 6 yrs have never done anything on the underside of my cover and have never had any mold or anything on it.

I too suspect that 303, as great as it is, would leave a residual behind on the inside of the cover that would work its way into the water.  I'd never had a mold problem inside the cover, I assume there is enough chlorine gas present to keep it clean, though I try to run the jets awhile before closing it.

Get an empty spray bottle and fill it with a 50/50 mixture of distilled white vinegar and water.  Works really well and is environmentally friendly.

That does sound like a good idea, and the worst case, it may drop his PH a little.
