Hi, We are looking at purchasing a hot tub very soon and have come across some new salt water tubs. What do you recommend? are they that much easier to maintain? what about long term?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Saltwater hot tubs are often misrepresented by salesman. Your water still needs to be balanced. There is usually an electrode to clean and replace. Also, saltwater is corrosive and people on salt systems tend to have higher failure rates.
Keep in mind that Salt is NaCl or Sodium Chloride. Salt systems use electrolysis to create Chlorine from Sodium Chloride. It is, in essence, just a chlorine generator. Adding chlorine manually is cheaper and pretty darn easy. I personally just use granular chlorine in my tub. It's cheap, easy and does the job well. Done properly, there is little to no odor or irritation.

Saltwater is a nice option, its not a magic pill system but when you couple it with a 24hr circ. pump is makes for a very low maintenance. system...the water feels great on the skin, not as much drying of the skin
