Title: Manufacture's 8.5k shootout!
Post by: Drifter on June 08, 2004, 10:20:06 pm
It's time for me to get a new spa, since my less than 1 year old one is staying in my old home. (Master LS 850. )I'd buy the same thing again except I didn't like the neck collars, so I've decided to ask the manufactures/dealers to step up to the plate. I'm willing to spend @$8,500 dollars for my new tub and would like the following. Can any of you guys meet this challenge?

Ok guys here's what I want.

1. 7-8 person tub @ 94 x 94 inches
2. 480-520 gallons
3. at least 2 therapy pumps (2 speeds)
4. 1 separate circ. pump
5. Capable of providing max. therapy to all seats at same time (No diverters)
6. no lounger
7. no confining neck collars
8. Ozinator system
9. Maybe fiber optics
10. Composite cabinet (no maintence)
11. remote switches for contols
12. Cover lifter and cover
13. Good warrantee
14. Quality product

I'd prefer a thermal pane system but I'm not ruling out FF.  Come on, anyone out there build such a spa?

Steve, I l like the looks of that tubs layout... too bad beachcomber is ignoring the southern half of the United States when it comes to setting up dealers.   >:(

Well, I would say Grandee, but it has diverters and is above your price.

I would say Vista, but it has a lounger and is above your price.

How about the
Siberian

I think the only thing on your list it doesn't cover is dual controls, but you could add the floating remote, and have control from any seat or even inside the house. The light can be upgraded to color-changing, and there are fiber-optics in the waterfall. Twin pumps, and though it does have diverters, you can use them to turn off the Jetstream jets (Jumbo jets) and you have great massage action in all seats. That's for real, since this tub has been upgraded to the HP version which gives you much bigger pumps than most HotSpring/Tiger River tubs have traditionally had.

Well below your price in most areas.

Here's a PDF with more details: SPECS (http://tigerriver.hotspring.com/Models/pdfs/specs_tigerriver_siberian04.pdf)

I, like you are in that same price range. I have been looking for a couple of months now. The only one that I have seen that has no diverters and wet tested was a D1 chairman. We also don't want a lounge so the Nautilus would be our pick. Still looking though. Price was $8,000.

The Beachcomber looks interesting. Unfortunately the dealer is over 1 hour away. I am worried about service calls from that distance. I live east of Sacramento and the dealer is towards the bay area.

Hey Steve, so how many seats does Beechcomber say this model has?   I've been amused by different companies market their tubs.  Its not a big deal to me because its perfectly obvious to most consumers how many people the tub will hold, but I wonder how they label it.   Before I went into my first dealership, I told him, sell me a tub that 4 people will fit in comfortably, and it that means a 6,7,or 8 person tub so be it. (ended up with  a 7 person tub, we have had 7 people in it, but 5 is just fine thanks.

I'd call this one a 7 person tub if you don't count what looks like a cool down seat.

I sell this as a 6-8 person spa. 6 comfortably.

That beachcomber looks real good except I'm not a big fan of losing a "corner seat" for a filtration system.  Although I'm buying a 7-8 person tub (Manufactures lingo) The most I'd have in the tub was 5 and usually only 3-4. My experience is that most people tend to sit in the 4 corners.  That's why I wasn't  a fan of the Grandee (Which I could afford around here for under 8.5k)

Good suggestions guys anyone have any others?

"I sell this as a 6-8 person spa. 6 comfortably"  6 people with such a tiny footwell?  Guess playing footsie and knocking knees is part of the experience.
