Title: Switching to Bromine
Post by: goneaway on August 02, 2013, 08:28:52 am
I've been dosing my new tub with Chlorine since filling it up a few weeks ago.
However, I'm constantly battling with the PH level dropping, and having to put PH increaser on an almost daily basis, which i didn't have to do with my soft tub.

Bearing in mind, i'm using chemicals which were supplied with the new tub, rather than my previous batch which i sold along with the soft tub (family member).

So i'm now wondering if it's related to the chlorine tablets I have, and am considering switching to Bromine instead.

Would this switch require a water change, or would a good dose of non chlorine shock, at 0ppm chlorine levels suffice.

ditch the chlorine tablets and go for granular chlorine to avoid pH drop

Yes, trichlor (tabs) is terrible in hot tubs. Bromine will drive down PH faster than granular chlorine.

After a heavy weekend, i decided to drop the water and refill anyway.
So i'm now trialing Bromine for a few weeks.
