http://www.wayfair.com/Lifesmart-DLX-Series-2-Rock-Solid-Hydromaster-7-Person-Spa-with-40-Jets-LSX1069.html
I have been looking at new and used spas for a while. We are looking for 6 person seating, 220V hardwired, waterfall, ozonator, multicolored lighting, no lounger, and doesn't cost a fortune. Most of the used ones are at least 5-7 years old and they still want 2-3K. Even the most basic dealer model that doesn't meet our minimums are 4K. While I have no set in stone budget, I'd like to be under 4K and closer to 3K. Electric can be done for cost of materials by a licensed friend, base is already set, and I have plenty of muscle to move it from the driveway to backyard patio.
So we found the above spa that's reasonably priced and has all the features that we want. I have read a lot of these are inferior to name brand "X" without really getting into specifics. Usually it comes down to dealer network, which I'm not overly concerned about. Is there anything specific that's less than desirable about this tub? It seems like a great deal, and I have 10% off.
Thanks

I believe the lifesmart is a freeflow tub which is a watkins(hot springs)subsidiary. Probably decent value. Find out what the true horsepower of the pump is because I'm fairly sure it's not what they claim it to be. Is this tub going to be for hydrotherapy or more of a party tub? The thing with these tubs is they don't usually move the water very well so the hydrotherapy most likely wont be there
-
It's mainly for relaxing in hot water and partying. I don't really get into hydrotherapy. I have been in a lot of tubs, from cheap to high end and the jets drive me nuts on high after a very short time. I usually just sit in them on low and relax.
-
Than its perfect for you..just remember its a roto mold.one piece design the seating area might be a little rough or textured
-
never mind
-
if you want the same tub with stainless jets ,a little more hp,steps and ozone ,costco sells it as the verano and sometimes puts it on sale for 2999
-
actually my bad,the milano and puts it on sale for 3499
-
never mind
My thoughts exactly!!
-
It is what it is. An inexpensive option to a well designed, well engineered, well built, well backed hydrotherapy machine that cost more.
If you've had jets that bother you or hurt you you have not had good jets.
-
looks just like the freeflow line we have...based on experience only thing I advise against is placing it near your bedroom window or other places where vibration(s) could be an issue, because it will kick on to heat/maintain temp. a lot, even in a showroom with an ambient air temp of ~68-70 degrees and the cover closed it ran consistently to maintain 100+ degrees

Did that Flow have a heater or was it friction heat?
In any case, I haven't heard any specifics. The jets feel good for a short time and then the noise and water movement get annoying.
I ordered it yesterday after checking out another local dealer. I'll be sure to report on the good, the bad, and the ugly if needed.

I'd love to see everyone get premium spas with top of the line therapy jets, multiple jet pumps, a circ pump, lots of lights, nice acrylic shell ... but everyone has their own personal budget and if yours is in that $3k to $5k range thats an excellent choice and yes, it does have the flow through heater.
-
Good point ace..and the reviews all over the web are almost all positive for these tubs
-
Believe me, I'd love that as well. I really wanted the nice acrylic shell, but was not willing to spend more than double for it. As a side benefit, perhaps I won't slip as much getting in and out on the textured shell.
I'll see how much it runs. It states that it's full foam, so hopefully it is and I'm going to put down R10 XPS foam underneath it. It should also be pretty sheltered from the wind on our covered patio.
Just saw brillskill's post and that had a lot to do with our decision. Nearly universal extremely positive reviews and lots of them.
-
I almost bought the 110 version with heater, than I saw the geo spa ,so I took a shot on that one its acrylic and about the same price..

You're bouyant anyway but its a smooth texture, I wouldn't its not "rough" at all. In my opinion the only thing you lose with the shell is the look of the acrylic but we're talking about a spa for people who are on a budget so for most thats not an issue.

they have standard heaters...I was just giving a heads up, we sell a few here and there with mostly good feedback but the noise/vibration thing is def. the most common complaint, again just try to keep it placed away from a bedroom window and out of vibrating distance and you'll be fine

I agree, with spas that sit just outside a bedroom window or on a deck where noise/vibration can be an issue you're better off getting a spa with a 24/7 circ pump.
-
It will be next to our family room on the first floor sitting on a covered paver patio with a six inch base. With the pavers, sand, and dense grade, it's about 11 inches thick. Plus it is going to sit on one inch XPS foam for a thermal break and vibration reduction. The exterior of the house is brick as well, so hopefully that reduces noise transmission.
-
Just curious.. Did you get the 10% in wayfair cash?
-
I only saw 3% so I guess that's all I got.

I love web programming that allows consumers to post reviews of products! One of the better features is that it requires the owner of the website (the one selling the product) to APPROVE the review before it becomes visible on the site....or, delete it if they don't want it to be seen by potential customers.

I really appreciate your two posts of no help at all. Perhaps if I would buy a Robert's hot tub you'd be more help.
I asked for specifics and you haven't offered anything. In any case there are plenty of negative reviews of other products on these sites. They sell enough stuff that they don't need to filter the results.
-
I feel my comments are VERY helpful...perhaps not specifically to you, but hopefully to others. It was made in response to some post, that now seems to be gone, making a statement to the effect that there were only good reviews to be found for the spa. I simply want to remind folks, that any site posting reviews CAN choose what reviews get posted, and which ones don't. I think it a reasonably safe bet to "assume" that a website selling something, isn't going to publish the bad reviews.

blk youll be more than ok with this tub..its a watkins ...very little can go wrong with it..i know of at least 3 people who have similar tubs all are happy with them..it will get hot and give ya some bubbles..for 3 grand whats not to like
-
Swirling hot water is good enough for a lot of people. This tub will do that.
-
It's more than "swirling hot water"!..you will feel the jets..it's not $10000 hot springs or jacuzzi jets but its relaxing and feels good..these tubs are taking market share from dealers so they will never give a positive statement on one ...

I wouldn't say they're taking market share. These companies come and go overtime. I think this was a good tub for him as he is just looking for "swirling hot water" andthatspretty much what he will get the jets will be barely noticeable
-
You are wrong ..I was in a 110 life smart with only 1.5hp pump and the jets felt good ..I was also in a hot springs grandee 2 weeks ago and there is a difference but IMO not an 8k difference

For you the Lifesmart makes more sense, for someone else the Grandee makes more sense. Its just like someone buying a $15k car really shouldn't question why someone else buys a $30k car arguing both get you from point A to point B, are about the the same in size, so therefore why wouldn't everyone get teh $15k car. To each his won, thats why Watkins makes Hot Spring, Limelight, Hot Spots, Freeflow... not everyone is looking for the same level spa, whats right for one person isn't for another.

I agree ace..but "swirling hot water" c'mon the guy just bought this tub .y be so negative

It's not being negative its telling it like it is. He isn't interested in hydrotherapy, more just water so this tub is perfect for him. Agree completely wth ace on this one. There is so many choices out there because everyone has different needs and expectations. I'm sure he will be happy with his purchase

Looks like you had great timing, wayfair raised the price above 3500..enjoy
