Title: Question on electric for our Sundance Chelsea spa
Post by: jmosery on September 01, 2011, 08:43:16 pm
my father in law is an electrician but has never done hot tubs

we bought the Chelsea

he said that the paper explains that with a 50 amp electric, we can't run the heater and the pump at the same time

he saids 60 amps is required

anyone know?

the electrician we hired wants to do 50 amps but isn't the point of the 24 hour circulation pump for it to be able to run when needed? do we have to turn off the heater to run the jets in the tub with 50 amps?

any info would be helpful

thanks

If you want to run the 24 circ. pump, BOTH high-speed jet pumps, AND the heater at the same time, you need the 60 amp breaker.  A 50 AMP breaker will work, but the heater will not operate if you have both high-speed pumps on at the same time.  The circ. pump will continue to run even though the heater doesn't.
