Title: Spa PAD- what to put under it

we bought a spa and spa pad

do people just pull the grass up, level and put sand under it? we are getting pavers put around the spa pad(4 feet all around) but wasn't sure what people did UNDER the spa pad itself

my husband was thinking sand or those little gravel rocks

All you need is level ground, using sharp sand to fine tune the level and create a base is a good idea.

All you need is level ground, using sharp sand to fine tune the level and create a base is a good idea.

Agreed. Last spa move I did had a spa pad simply laid over existing lawn.
