..I'm not saying a thing ;D
-
About what? ;)
-
I'm hoping for a NY/Philly Series and then an early winter. I'd love to see 4-5 snow outs, the series should be over by now.

I'm hoping for a Phillies/Yankees series as well, but obviously for other reasons.
Already had a cold/snow out in the NLDS in Colorado. There's snow in the forecast for higher elevations in eastern PA this weekend. However, it should just be damp/wet in Philly. Don't know if you recall how cold/wet it was during last year's World Series in Philly.
I agree that baseball goes too long, but it's all for television money. They aren't going to change a thing.
-
They all get paid enough to at least work this long...I really enjoy baseball this late in the year!

Especially this year and last, eh, Boni? 8)
Only 3 more to go this round... although I don't know if I can take many more like last night.
-
I had to turn the TV off after the 8th inning. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to fall asleep if I kept watching...But as soon as my feet hit the ground this morning, Fox news was on so I could see the result. ;)
Again, I am not saying a thing... :D
-
Nothing to comment on ... ;)
I thought you would at least mention that the Phillies outscored the Eagles 11-9 yesterday... :o
-
Done with the Eagles. >:(.I was glad my hubby was in Italy as I rooted against this team. ::)Sorry Dax, the Eagles are goofballs in my book...and next week I will be with Spatech in my headdress!! ;D ;D
-
and next week I will be with Spatech in my headdress!! ;D ;D
Just be careful you don't get that thing caught in your hot tub filter...
-
;D ;D ;D.. I should have said I will be cheering with Spatech..and wearing my headdress...don't want that statement to be misconstrued.. :-[.. and if my husband is home, I may be in the hot tub ALONE...he will have none of this turncoat attitude of mine..Yeah, I may be stuck in a filter or someplace like that.... :-\

Hope you stayed up last night to watch the end of that one, Boni. 8)
-
I didn't and thats why it happened!!! I knew I would be too upset to go to sleep, so I turned off the TV in the 8th..This morning before I could even get to the TV, I saw that my son had texted me from college after midnight last night..He wrote.."You got to believe"!! (he wasn't in English class, so that's OK!!)..
Late this morning, I hear his Dixie horn in my driveway..huh? His dorm neighbor's TV caught fire last night...right in the middle of the game..Fifteen kids squeezed into my son's room to watch on his tiny TV. He literally flew home between classes to grab the 27 inch in my basement.
(Good thing, it was going to be donated Thursday!!). He said they got so loud last night that they rocked the dorm and the girls on the floors above and below ran to see what was wrong.....or right as the case may be!!
What I especially LOVE is that so many newspapers decided to go to print before that last out...proving once again...it ain't over until it's over... ;D
-
Great game last night, Boni! Hope you managed to stay up to see it.
Bring on the Yankees!
-
I fell asleep..can you believe that..it's always the 8th inning...
Not saying a thing ...just remembering that I was in line last year at Modells getting those darn shirts so my kids had them first at school...this year I am just going to change the dates ;D ;D ;D..
-
Well, I guess congrats to you Phillies fans!
Although I do live where it's equal Philly and Yankees fans I myself am a New Yorker, a Yankee fan (not FANatical) but wanted the Dodgers to beat Philly. There was only 1 reason ... I wanted to have Joe Torre win the World Series from the Yankees at Yankee Stadium so he could basically say *%$& YOU to the Yankee organization.
But since you guys beat the Dodgers - Good Luck! BTW, as I write this the Yankees are getting beat pretty bad and I think it's only the first inning!
-
So there you go, Bill...Phillies and the Yanks...oh brother ;D
-
I'm like you Vinny - I live about an hour northwest of Philly, and maybe two hours southwest of NYC. Mostly Phillies fans, but an awful lot of Yankees fans as well. So this is gonna be great! This one bar I frequent is split about 50/50. I may just have to catch a couple games there. Can't wait for Wednesday night!
-
Now that the Frozen Tundra series is getting ready to start. GO PHILLIES.
-
Spank the Yanks!!!!

:)

Awesome game last nigt, Boni! Just wish JRo hadn't thrown that ball away in the 9th and ruined the shutout. But I'll take a 6-1 Phillies win any time. 8)
Tonight is gonna be wild with Pedro pitching against the Yankees. Can't wait!
-
Oh well, it was a great series (especially if you were a Yankees fan!!). The Phils have some work to do in the off season, but I am happy with how well they performed overall...
I think the Mayor of Philly is dancing in the streets!! With the HUGE budget problems and SEPTA on strike..they would never have been able to handle another parade on Broad Street this year!!
haha..so maybe Mayor Nutter had a hand in this ;D ;D ;D
-
Had the Phillies won, I heard that they were going to foot the bill for the parade.
Yeah, it was a great season. The Phillies still have a very good nucleus and should be competitive for the next few years. A couple good prospects down on the farm as well.
I watched last night's game at my fave watering hole. Bar was split about 50/50 so it was a lot of fun... for a few innings anyway... Oh well, let's go Flyers! (Notice how I didn't mention the Eagles - oops :-X)
-
To tell you the truth with 20 All Stars between the 2 teams it was a great series. I personally don't understand giving a pitcher 3 days rest - both teams had to have more than 3 each that they count on during the regular season (don't know as I don't really watch sports).
I also don't know how much the Phillies pay for their players but the announcers last night were quoting contract salaries for the Yankees and the U.S. deficit could be paid off and we could all pay less taxes. That's why originally I wanted the Dodgers to win ... if you pay people that much to play a sport - the manager has nothing to do with winning or losing.
Anyway, if you guys want to see a parade just go to NYC around Wall Street and you can catch a parade. I've seen it once and it is pretty impressive. JUST DON'T WEAR PHILLIES HATS!!!!!
-
As close as I live to New York, I have never been there and really have NO desire to ever go. But next spring my youngest will be singing at Carnegie Hall, so I guess I will have to see New York. Don't worry Vinny, I won't wear my Phillies hat ;D ;D I may bring my baseball bat though :-\

I believe I heard that the Phillies salary is 60% of the Yankees. Still a lot of money, but for the most part, the Phillies players came up through their system or via trade. They didn't buy their players like the Yankees did.
As for a parade, last year's Philly parade was very cool. I couldn't imagine New York's being better.

I think I've been on Broad St once a long time ago. I think there was an Orvis shop there or at least I had to travel on Broad St to get there. I don't remember how tall the buildings are that line it and I used to work on Broadway where they do the parades. It is right in the heart of the Wall Street area and the buildings are 40 + stories tall. Back in the day when I saw a parade it was when we used paper for everything and to see tons of shredded paper flying out the windows with the cavalcade coming through was a sight! I happened to work on the 6th floor of one of the buildings at the time so I had a birds eye view.
I'm sure the Phillies parade was spectacular as well but anyone who hasn't seen a ticker tape parade needs to see one.
Boni, I grew up in NYC and think it's a great city - TO VISIT - living in a suburb and being able to get there is cool. And even cooler is when we're done with visiting NY - leaving NY to go home. I've never been to Carnegie Hall but I hear the acoustics are fantastic. If you're staying longer than a show try to see Radio City Music Hall - It is beautiful inside and the acoustics there are great as well.
I've lived in Jersey now for 20 years now but I still think as NY as home ... we used to venture into Philly when the kids were younger to take them to the museums and just last year my wife and I went to the Mint. I joke with my kids about them NOT being New Yorkers ... maybe their better off not being! LOL!!! :)
