Title: GFI Circuit breaker triped on start up
Post by: rdr202 on September 02, 2009, 02:53:53 pm
My spa has not been used all summer.

I turned off the power to it in July after adding clorine and letting it run for an hour.

Last week I drained it.

Yesterday I cleaned it

Today I refilled it.

Put in two new filters.

I set heat for only 80 deg. because I will not be using it soon.

Fired it up and ran jets on high for 20 minutes all ran fine.

I checked on it two hours after and the circuit breaker was triped.

I opended the pump control compartment , no leaks, pumps were cold, heater was cold to the touch.

Tried resetting breaker and it triped as soon  I tried to reset it.

I did notice that the tempureture LCD on controls had some moisture in it before I started it.

Not a lot but it was noticeable.  Control was replaced last year original one failed

Anyone know what I should be looking at first.

First thing I would try is to unplug the heater from the pack, and then reset the breaker. If it doesnt trip, then thats what it is. If it does trip, then plug it back in, and unplug the pump. Keep doing that, until you can figure out what it is. Most likely the heater, but not always. Good luck.
