Title: Viva Las Vegas!  Pool and Spa Expo AAR
Post by: East_TX_Spa on November 21, 2008, 11:29:56 am
Got home at 2 am from the Las Vegas Pool and Spa show...had a great time, learned a ton of stuff, and got to meet several of the prestigious forum members for the first time.  Got a lot of pics, too!

Forum members I met for the first time (in order):

Jacuzzi Jim
Stuart
Markee
Micah

Renewed acquaintances with my good friend Mendocino.

Nobody donkey punched me in the head, for which I am extremely grateful.

We ate, dranked, and remained merry for the duration...but now it is time to return to the real world and get to work.  Once I get caught up a little, I'll start posting pictures.

Well we got back around midnight last night and I am glad to be back!!  Loved meeting the guys from here  but I missed Micah :'( Not sure how that happened?

We looked at a lot of cool stuff got caught up on whats new and who's doing what.  I will say there seemed to be more Chinese junk there then I have ever seen in the past. Not sure how that will shake out.  Everyone also confirmed the slowness no surprise there.  Many vendors were very very  anxious to get new business, the only  thing we picked up was the Freeflow line which we dropped a couple of years ago, were going to put a couple on the floor and see what happens.

It was great putting faces to names from those on the forum, I really wish we could have spent more time drinking and talking about spa chit!  If all of us could get together and open a few spa stores we could kick some serious a--!  Term did get a few pics which could be a good thing, could be a bad thing with his photoshop skills 8-)

Anyway its good to get back to work, and cant wait to see the rest of Terms photos, Vegas does bring out the best in girls and some of the worst as well.

It was great to meet everyone!

I must say the highlight of the show for me was the Haven Spas booth with the 2009 Super Custom Fallsburg.

Sorry, it's been busy today trying to get caught up.

We land in Vegas and get a rental car, then drive over to Mandalay Bay.  What a beautiful hotel!  It smelled like magnolias throughout the property.

Here was the ride down the escalator:

The landscaping around the hotel was exquisite.  It just made me want to sit right down and have a picnic:

We were on the 13th floor facing the Strip.  The view was breathtaking:

Stupid flash!  Here's a better view:

To be continued....

I heard Term's waitress about got her hand bit off when he was chawin' on a nice steak bone out there - after he finished his 30 oz. steak first, of course.  ;)

My office is right by the Mandalay Bay.
I wish I could have met some of you, but then I'm just a Spa Owner and not a Spa Sales Engineer.

if time allows maybe i can buy your lunch at Mon Ami Gabi?

Btw....is the Hoover Dam tour worth doing?
I've always wanted to see it, but always run outta time?
Is Hoover Dam like 1.5 hour drive on a tour bus or alot farther?

The Hoover dam is about 50 minutes from the strip. My fishing spot is just below the dam in a place called Willow Beach. I did the helicopter tour of Hoover Dam and that is the way to see it. If you head out towards the dam there is a Casino/Hotel with a helicopter facility. A 5 minute flight is like $59. The longer you stay up the more it cost. I will PM you with my cell number. Give me a call and I can run you out to the dam. I do have plans on Sunday but the other two days are open.

My mistake,,, I forgot its ok to wear white britches after labor day now :)

But you have to admit, it does look like a dead hooker, especially since your 3/4 naked, the vegas strip is in the background, and I was there last week.
Did you notice how freindly the women were around that place,  ;)

Term could have left my Cowboy hat out...I imagine I'm being looked for somewhere and too many people know me by it, that picture could really confuse them.

My wife kept a copy of the picture and said it really helped her to try and imagine me that way!

All I know is that there isn’t enough fur on any one of those guys to call them men in my family! :o

Hanging out with you guys for a few minuets at the show was a big highlight for me!! ;) 8-)

The Pool and Spa Expo didn't start until 11:00, so we had some time to kill.  We decided to take a walk down the strip in the hopes that Stephan might meet his first hooker.

Although the casinos appear to be right next door to one another, each one is a good city block long and you will get some serious exercise.  It is amazing to see all of the different shows that Las Vegas offers:

(I'm pretty sure that the German translation is "fuzzy britches", but I've been wrong on occassion)

Gee...which one should we go see.....

We chose wisely!

After the show, we went to visit my cousins from Nevada.  I haven't seen them since they were younguns and it was great to have some good ol' fashioned family reunioning:

I was pretty wore out after all the relations and such, so it was time to go drinkin'.

More to come....

We went over to the bar at the Mandalay.  I got a little scotch since they had no Shiner Bock.  Damn thing was $18 a shot!

We asked the bartender who the best celebrity tippers were...he said that Frank Thomas and Jason Giambi were good to wait on.  He said Michael Jordan was a cheapskate, but that Scottie "No Tippin" Pippen was the absolute worst!

He said that we were right up there with Thomas and Giambi when he saw what we gived him...called us "high rollers" which I don't mind being called, but I don't like being called "high handed".  Most folks don't.

The next night, we went over to the Rio for the seafood buffet.  Crank and Markee joined us and we chowed down on crab legs, shrimps, suchi, and Vegas frog legs:

We met up with Mendo later and went strolling about town.  We even took a pitcher with the Roamin' Gnome at the Venetian forum.  I never knew that he was real:

More to come....

I always attend trade shows in disguise in an effort to thwart my enemies from the spa underworld.  This year, I was disguised as Bruce Lee.  No one jacked with me and I even picked up a hot chick who wanted to learn some self-defense techniques from the master:
