Title: yet another energy question
Post by: benalexe on October 01, 2008, 09:14:24 pm
So if I am planning on not using the tub for 3-4 weeks, is it better to turn the temp down to 80 econo mode. or more energy effecient to keep it at 101?

I'll just add the water wil probably stay cleaner at 80.  The hotter the water the faster nasty things seem to grow.

Newton’s Law of cooling states that a hot object transfers heat to its surroundings (cools) at a rate proportional to the difference in temperature between the two.

In other words, the hotter your spa, the quicker heat transfers from it, to the atmosphere. Can you go lower than 80? Like 60 perhaps?

nope 80 is lowest... but in econ mode I think it may go lower when the pumps are off.
