Title: ECOsmarte  water treatment system
Post by: Familybiz on August 05, 2008, 03:35:46 pm
Hi all
I am a Beachcomber dealer, I have been reading the forum for a while now and find it very interesting. So... the time has come for me to join in, I have a client who moved into a home with an existing hot tub. This tub has an ECOsmarte water treatment system, I know absolutely nothing about this system.
Has anyone used or heard of the system, what are your thoughts on it?
Thanks in advance
Kathy

I've worked with the system for just over 2 years now (supporting it).  We discontinued sales on them after less than 6 months.

Problems:
1.  Insufficient oxidation
2.  Low pH range.  It's hard to maintain & often leads to damage or loss of sanitizer (copper).
3.  High failure rate on control boxes (over 10%) here.
4.  High rate of premature electrode wear.
5.  Very inaccurate manuals and technical literature.
6.  Most systems here have been much higher maintenance than chlorine or bromine spas.
7.  The WORST technical support I've ever received, anywhere, bar none.  Have never had a phone call to the parent company yield one iota of usefull information.
8.  Seems less effective than chlorine/bromine.

My recommendation is to remove the system and install a CD ozone system.

However, if you/your customer want to try it - feel free to contact me via PM, email, etc.  I've learned a few tricks over time to keep them running effectively.

Email is best this time of year.

May the force be with you.

Thank 's for your reponse BauerN, I appreciate the info.
Now just before we close this thread ( I asume that Mr Bubbles also has the same opinion on this system ) can the system just be turned off or does it require complete removal.
again, thank you!

Oh no, I know nothing about it.  I was just joking and complementing BauerN on his informative post.  To bad we don’t have a rep system here.

 ;D

Not too hard to tell I've had a few upset customers over this, huh?

The system does not have to be removed, but it's not too difficult to do if the customer would like to have the copper plates (which will eventually break down and slowly disintegrate into the spa).

We did remove and refund/exchange any system a customer requested.

The difficulty of removal will depend upon the type of spa, and the nature of the electrode chamber install.

And, thank you Mr. B.     ;)
