I know you use one cartridge every 3 months. You put it in the filter. My hot tub has two filters. I still use just one cartridge, right? Does it matter which filter I put it in?
-
Change every 4 months.
Put in filter that is inline with the pump that is used most.

We have a winner. In my case, I don't have a circ pump so pump #1 runs for filtration. Actually I just put the cartridge inside the skimmer door where both filters are.

Which leads to the next silly question:
Why in the filter rather than inside the skimmer door?

Though I do not use N2 anymore, I did for years and always just placed the cartridge in the skimmer area...never inside the filter. For a while I used the Sundance version of the N2 cartridge that fit in the filter door which essentially is the same as just placing it in the filter area.

By putting it inside the filter you'll get more water moving through the cartridge. In the skimmer more water will flow around, rather that through the cartridge.

I see people go both ways on using Nature 2. Is there a downside to using it? Does it hurt anything to have it in your filter? Just curious.
Thanks,
Scott

The only downsides are - could be a reduced amount of flow if stuck inside the filter and they will fall apart if left in the water for a long time.
I am on the side of not using it ... it does hurt the pocket. For the price of one stick you can but a bunch of dichlor or bromine which are true sanitizers. or buy an ozonator after a year of not using N2.
Of course the other side of the coin is that people do swear by it ... I just haven't had the positive experiences as others have had.

You should get it out. I don't know how much water flow you get, but I have seen them fall apart if left in for four or five years. Yes, years. I put them in just about every spa we sell, and sometimes the owners forget it.

So on a J-470 would it be safer to put it in the polishing bag so if it feel apart it would not get to the pump?
Scott :-/

You want it wherever there is the best water flow. And you want to remember to change it. I have never had one come apart that was changed in any reasonable amount of time.

I already bought a replacement N2 cartridge and spare filter and polishing bag. My spa is about 6 weeks old. So I'm locked and loaded.
