This may get moved to the "slightly off topic" department, but I thought I'd let you all know that I am offering my older model for sale.
Below is the link - for the listing on ebay.
I will include free spa chems if somebody from one of these boards win the bid! Ends Saturday, so bid soon and bid often.
Good luck !
BTW - the young man with the hat on is not my son, but he is one of our delivery guys and has a girlfriend. Thought it would be only fair to let you know that ahead of time.

What chemicals are necessary with that tractor?
-
Come on Andy, try to stay on topic here -
I will include SPA chemicals if anyone from one of the SPA boards buys it.
Sheesh. ;D ;D

Are the chems the same vintage as the tractor?
-
Are you just trying to bump this and keep it at the top?
To answer your question - Of course not. The chems would be new. Or , "newish," at least.
Would you give me a bid on making a custom cover for it?

I know some dealers sell fireplaces, patio furniture, etc. in their stores along side the hot tubs but I didn't know Chas owned a hot tub/tractor store!!

You want the cover insulating? Vinyl, or corrugated steel?

That would be blatant spamming of the board, and I would never do that. Or at least, very seldom.
No, this is purely a personal item which I am saddened to have to part with. But I figured just about anyone who owns a hot tub can use an antique tractor to go along with it, right?
Actually, I spend a lot of time on Tractor Boards too - no kidding. They are SO polite and helpful - sort of cleans me out every now and then.

Well, how about a vinyl dust cover that the new owner could use while it's on the trailer headed to tractor shows?
It is a fine specimen, don't you think?

What's amazing is that 1,800 people have viewed the ebay page.
I think it would cost more to ship it then to buy it. Seems like one of those weird items that one collects over a lifetime. Good thing that ebay exists to sell those weird items.

The shipping could be as low as fitty cent a mile - go to -
www.Uship.com
It's a site where you can find truckers who need a load to get back home, or who need a load to fill out a partial truck. This seems to be a great resource for any of us who need things shipped, even spas, gazebos, large quantites, small quantities, etc.
Wow - got dangerously close to being on topic there. Sorry.
OK - now as to the over 1800 people who have viewed the listing - I have mentioned it on this web board and on one of the antique tractor web boards. It jumped several hundred views within a couple of hours of those two posts going online. What I find amazing is that close to 40 people are "watching" this auction. That means that there are going to be some folks trying to snipe.
So if you want this you had better bid now! I hope to get around ten grand or so for it. It is very rare...
I plan to settle for slightly less. I actually had it sold for $800 with all the extra goodies, but the guy never ponied up. Hey - I need the room in the warehouse for spas!

Chas
From what I remember, there weren't nothin better than an 8N Ford tractor. When I was a kid, my father bought one with a front end loader to do some work on a piece of property he owned. He was able to re-sell it at a profit when he was done using it.
I understand that particular tractor was very popular with small farmers and when Ford stopped making it, it about crippled them. If I remember correctly, after Ford stopped making the 8N the only alternative was an imported Soviet bloc tractor (which was originally based on Henry Ford's design!) I think the Japanese have picked up the slack since then with their Kubotas and such.
-This also gives you an idea of the sort of useless (and probably mostly inaccurate) information I have floating in my noggin.

You have it all just right Rich.
If you want to see how many people are still interested in these old tractors, go to this web discussion board - there is a registry where you can look up tractors by serial number and see who owns which tractor. There are also ads from people who restore these. Still very popular, and now you can buy new ones made in Korea and other Asian nations.

Yep - Marv is the man.
I would love to trade him a nice shiny new HotSpring Spa for one of his tractors - or have him restore one for me. For fun, we could rig up a pump which could be driven off the PowerTakeOff on the rear of the tractor, so he could take it with him when he goes to tractor shows across the midwest.

Chas,
I've built/modified and installed a couple of motor driven pumps. I would love the challenge of a hot tub tractor. 8-)

Chas, it looks like a DIY situation.
You've already got the 8N. Now you just need an old Lincoln V-8.
I can see it now: An 8N Hot Rod Lincoln with a Hot Tub off the back!
Use a heat exchanger off the V8 for the water and the tractor's PTO for the jets!

Well guys, I would love to explore this too. I love to tinker with stuff just like this -
BUT,
The tractor is already listed on Ebay as I write this. So if'n we're going to do this thing, one of you should start bidding on it.
I'll get the pump and the spa.

Bill moved us to "Off Topic"
Can you believe it?
Actually, I can't believe he was nice enough to let us have our fun for the three or four days we did - thank-you Bill. You're a very good moderator, and I appreciate the time you donate around here.
