Title: Jacuzzi J470 pricing??
Post by: wewannahottub on April 16, 2008, 06:40:30 pm
Hi all!!  Just received a call from the Jacuzzi dealer in our area and the 470 will be in tomorrow and ready for wet testing on Sunday!!

So, I know many of you just bought 480's at a reasonable price and they are similiar to the 470 but no lounger.  We are excited!!

So, since we are looking for bling, we were wondering what a ballpark figure we could expect to see with all the extras, lights/stereo/cover lift/steps/etc..  I know I could recheck other posts---seems around 10-12k is average.

Any thoughts out there?? :-/

Thanks!  Expect the full report soon!! ;)

Chrisi :)

Chrisi,

We were quoted 10k and it's a while back in our search so I'm not positive but I believe that included the stereo and no lift.  Because at that dealer we were told that one had to order the stereo and that's were we got the price from.  As much room as we found out there is in these things it seems to me like I wouldn't pay anything over 9K with a lift included.  The stereo is a HUGE markup in these units.  Hope this helps.

In His Peace,
Fred

How much of a mark up is "HUGE"?   What do you mean by "as much room in these things"? Are you refering to the mark up of the dealer? I'm just trying to understand what you meant.

Just ask for a quote with and without the stereo!!

I guess I define huge as MSRP on the J480 (without stereo) is 15,410 without any thing extra and I bought at 10,000 with cover, lift and steps.  And I probably left money on the table.

The stereo difference (again on the J480): MSRP w/out stereo is 15,410 and w/ stereo MRSP 17,270.  That's $1,860 for a stereo....

t.u.o. has a good point, get pricing with and without the stereo.  You might be able to put in a home theater and run outdoor speakers.

Thanks,
Fred

Thanks all!!

I did get a message from JJ about what to expect.  I know it varies from area to area and dealer to dealer.  I just like to get a ballpark.

As far as the stereo goes--We do have a great stereo (Pioneer Elite for you stereo buffs) and massive Cerwin Vega speakers, but we would have to do alot of drilling and wiring and would not be worth the time or trouble.  Not to mention, I wouldn't be able to use the remote.

So, we really are interested in the stereo.

I'll check back wit' yinz guys later, gotta go to a late staff meeting and complain about the supervisors and staffing >:(.  I have a great manager, though!!! :)

Go Penguins!!  (game 4 is on now!!!!!!!!!!) ;D ;D ;D

So is the MSRP you mentioned a manufacturer MSRP or a dealer MSRP? Does Jacuzzi even have an MSRP list? Did you see it?

So if they were willing to sell it at 10G's (and no doubt they made SOME money), then at 15 G's+, they would be making $8000 +? I need to get back into the spa biz!  :o

For those of you still shopping around...

Do fall into these "MSRP" games. These are inflated prices (often made up by the dealer and NOT the manufacturer) to create perceived value. It's laziest way to do so...

If they really promote these "savings", ask to see a recent deal where they sold the spa at MSRP.

Get the broom out Chrisi. Looks like a sweep! It would be nice to have ONE Canadian team left after the first round and I have a REALLY hard time cheering for Calgary... :P

I called Jacuzzi and got these prices (MSRP) directly from customer service and they are also posted at the dealer I'm buying from.  From there the dealer is free to put whatever retail price on them they want to (according to the customer service rep).

Hope this helps,
Fred

Steve,

40% of the players in the NHL are Canadian so I guess it really dosen't matter what team you root for :)

For the 480 I was told about $10.5K no stereo  and about 11.5K with stereo and that was with cover and some chemicals, maybe the lifter but not steps.  Still no 470 or 480 to try here only the 460 (which doesn't compare I hear)

Now that's more reasonable for the stereo and a good deal overall either way.

Hey all!!  Back from my beeotch and moan session at the ICU staff meeting!!  ::) :-? :o Thanks all for your help and info!!!  Now hubby, played on the computer while I was at the staff meeting and found Pacific spas, the Endeavor.  Looks blingy!  Anyone with thoughts??  :-[ :-[ I am trying to keep things narrowed down!!   :-/ :'(

As far as the pricing goes, the average quote is what I am willing to pay.  For any spa.  And, after working in the yard today (which is my passion!)  I am ready for even a blow up spa at Big Lots for 400 bucks.   :D ;)

Hey, and how about them Pens, eh??  Sid the Kid shot in an empty netter to really wrap it up.  Yeah, I guess no matter what team you root for, you're still rooting for Canada,... and Russia,... and Czechs,... etc... ;D ;D ;D

This has been fun!!

Chrisi,

My wife (who's also my memory) told me that the $9995 price we were quoted on the 470 was without the stereo.  They had told us that the 480 had to come with the stereo (which wasn't true).  Sorry about the bad info I gave yesterday.  I didn't want it to hang out there.  Just remember that this price was given to us at same time we were given the 480 price and we were able to get ours for much less than the quoted price.  Off to work now.

Have a great day all,
Fred

Title: Re: Jacuzzi J470 pricing??
Post by: wewannahottub on April 20, 2008, 07:38:19 pm
Well, well, well!!  Happy day!! :D

We went to the Jacuzzi dealer and jumped in the wet 470 that the dealer had ready for us.  Whew, what a tub.  Great therapy.

THe waterfalls are AWESOME and that seat includes 2 very large, vigorous rotating massage jets that turned my lower back and flanks into PUTTY!!  The back corner seat right of the waterfalls (facing the spa) had nice therapy and included some neck jets NX2 but I needed to move around to hit the calves.  Lots of room to move, as well.  The foot dome was great--4 jets surrounding the dome plus the volcano jet in the middle.  Hubby was comfy in the seat on the other side of the waterfall.  Lots of shoulder and leg room.

There was a big shift in how forceful you could have the jets, off to one and full blast to another, or a comfy halfway to both.

The pumps were very quiet.  Even just sitting in the spa with the waterfalls going was nice too!!

So,  :-? while I was changing, hubby started talking price with the owner--it is just he and his wife--and they are BBB members, and the business has been around a while.

For and ORDERED 470 with cover, HYDRAULIC lifter, steps, chems, delivery, set up, BOOMIN' stereo with subwoofer, lights, and 2 external lights, and he throws the Proclear Ozonator into ALL his spas, ............[glow]$10,500[/glow]! :o :o :o ;)

Oh, and did I mention--10 year warranty on shell/cabinet/plumbing (I think pumps, too? now we can't remember) and 2 year on the stereo.

JJ, you would be proud.

We did let him know from the start we are going to be wet testing the Arctic line and one or 2 Dynasty's this week.  (yes, that was BEFORE we jumped in or even talked price!)

Wow.  It will be a busy week.  We let him know that our purchase will be between him and the Arctic dealer.  WHom, BTW, sent me ANOTHER message that they would DEFINATELY work a deal on the big tubs with bling!!!!!!!!!

Soon to be......wegottahottub! :D ;D ;D ;D

PS, they service what they sell. ;)

Thanks spatini--I about crapped myself  :-[ when I saw the price--the dealer is in a very well off area and I expected to be way high!

But, we want to make sure that Jqz is what we want and wanted to check out Arctic and Dynasty---the 470 jets were great, I hoped for more leg jets, and shoulder jets, too (which Dynasty has), but overall very satisfied with what we felt and saw.

I think Tom has given up (or I have him convinced) that he will need to buy aftermarket pillows to rest his head on!! ;D ;D ;D (that has been his big issue)

Chrisi,

With a report like that I am amazed you didn't buy it.

Was that $10,500 out the door or plus tax?

Either way, that seems like a low price.

Plus tax.  Probably about 11,200 with tax.

We just want to make sure--since we have been waiting for the Dynasty to come it, and that same dealer is also filling a few Arctics we just want to make sure.

We did tell the dealer from the start we also are wet testing the other two.

But, it is definately in contention!!  He knows he'll hear from us!!

BTW--I believe i stated it earlier===BOTH dealers are fantastic and seem QUITE willing to work with the customer to be sure that they are satisfied.

Both service, as well.

Both are registered with BBB--and to me, that counts.

I DEFINATELY think that the dealer is 1/2 the sale!!

For Swell Tub--I am hoping if you read this post that you checked out your Jacuzzi service tech, since that seemed the way you wanted to lean, speaking of good vs bad dealers----instead of the arrogant, tub bashing Sundance guy you spoke to (that does his own service)

Chrisi, we have been in Salt Lake the last 4 days cleaning my mothers house who passed away. During the drive we talked and later this week I'm going in to see how good of deal we can get on a Jacuzzi 470. If the price is right we may just buy without a wet test. We are tired of wet testing and we like the attitude of the dealer. Since we did like the wet test on the J-345 we think we will be alright with the 470. We will see but are leaning towards the Jacuzzi movement. If I can get a price like yours then I think it is over.

Chrisi,

Glad to hear that your wet test went well. You might double check the warranty they told you though. I am sure JJ will correct me if I am wrong, but the only thing that is covered for 10 years is the shell. The shell surface has a 7 year warranty, and the other components, like the pumps and plumbing have a 5 year warranty. At least that is how it reads on their website. Still a good warranty though!

I just met with my Jacuzzi dealer and the prices on the J-470 with ozone, steps, and mineral cartridge is:

$9,495 without stereo
$10,495 with stereo and IPod hookup.

The lift is another $300.

Price includes delivery and set-up. I have to pay an extra $150 crane fee to lift it over the house.

I'm working with Sundance on thier best price as well....

The other dealers have been quoting me $250-$300 for the crane service. The Coast dealer offered to pickup the crane costs and the Jacuzzi dealer was half the going rate for some reason. Maybe because they send a lot of business their way on the pool side of the business.

We haven't gotten any official crane prices since the early days looking at Viking and Sundance at a big box store, or the Clearwater.    Our spa will need hoisted onto a covered porch  We'll be able to take the railing down, and actually we were hoping maybe pulling it up on some skids or something.  Doubt that though.

A crane is much safer and actually less expensive than manual labor for what you are describing.

Here is the deal from my Sundance dealer:

Scott- .Sundance has Optima-durastep-CD ozone-stereo-chems-you pay $150 to crane for 85'reach for $10,999 + tax.
Paddock will include a sunpurity (ionizer) and a covermate I. Sounds like a great deal to me!! Let me know.

Or

J-470 offer earlier in the thread.

My wife is tired of wet testing and Spa shopping, she wants me to pick one of these two offers and put an end to the search. So tomorrow I might put money on one of these offers. Any suggestions from the crowd? I will be in hot water either way.....

For me I personally liked the Jacuzzi better , when I got past the therapy I looked at the secondary aspects of the tub, Stereo is probably the same in both with the Ipod and subwoofer but I liked the speakers and location of speakers in Jacuzzi, I liked the Waterfall way better in Jacuzzi than in any other spa , and I liked the lighting better with the lighted step pad on the cool down seat and in top of the foot dome, in the Jacuzzi along with the controls and the diverters. hope this helps a little

Did you wet test the Sundance Optima? The reason I ask is that the Optima has 2 foot jets for each corner seat. My favorite is the Jacuzzi. My wifes favorite is the Optima. Like you I like the two waterfalls, high back, jets, and looks of the Jacuzzi. In the Optima I get air blower more leg action and a smaller footprint (88X88) vs. (91X91) on the J-470.

They didnt have an Optima so I could only wet test the Cameo and I preferred Jacuzzi much better for therapy , I do like the two foot jets per seat but they look small and pinpointy like those on a CalSpa i tested , I actually like the larger jet on the Jacuzzi dome better, I also liked one of the Jacuzzi filters that you could take the top off of and put your choice of Nature 2 or Spa Frog or Leisure time cartridge inside of and out of sight , couldnt to that on the sundance. does three inches make a big difference on your location site ?

now that I cant answer but it would seem to dependent on what type of lift you use , I have actually debated on not using a lift I think it looks better when using the spa without that big ole cover all over you , but doubt the wife could take it off by herself without a lift.

I personally would go for the Jacuzzi DUH ;)   Oh and the Optima is only 1" smaller than the J-470    I also like the looks, filtration and jetting of the J-470 better than the Optima.   You have to admit their is not another spa out there that looks like the J-470/J-480 least I have not seen one.   But then looks are not everything.

Lift wise for either you need about  3" or so on each side.  depends on what lift they are using??

Never mind I just got off my lazy fingers and looked on the Jacuzzi website. They use the large silver dollar speakers on the inside. When I wet tested the J-345 we had too much water in the tub and the water covered the speakers.

No pop ups on Jacuzzi anymore, they had to many issues with them not popping up.  The stereo actually sounds very good, and we have no issues with the IPOD.  Then throw in the remote that controls lights stereo/CD and pumps, you can be pretty dang lazy in that spa.  All you need is your wife to fetch you cold ones!   ;D

I agree that the stereo sounds great , a lot better than the pop ups i tested , there was one at each seat and you could hear them great with the pumps running which I could not do with the popups unless they were really loud. cant wait for the remote and maybe some type of training will be needed for the fetching wife cause my would come back with fetch it yerself and get me one while your at it.

I ordered the Platinum shell with the Silverwood Cabinet , I really liked that combonation and it will match my Home fairly well, I also think the lights will show up better with the platinum shell .

The Jacuzzi dealer told me that Jacuzzi is dropping the smooth finishes and only going to offer the pebble type finish. BTW Jacuzzi dealer just called and threw in 6 months no payments or interest on the deal.

I never care about the interest rate because I always have the money in the bank to pay off the loan before the offer expires. To me it's free money for 6 months. Now if they raised the price to accomadate the loan then that's another story....

True and i do the same with financing. i just know that life happens and unfortunately some customers end up with that apr and its a pain in the wallet.

Not sure where they heard that Jacuzzi is dropping finishes, I just talked to our rep and its not true! Also called the order desk and confirmed there as well.

They may be trying to steer you away from it?

platinum I just Ordered is smooth, one of the reasons i got it as I like smooth better than the pebble , seems more "finished" to me

Swell, Spa, and JJ---

I can definately agree the stereo on the 470 is BOOMIN!!!!!  I was coming out from the bathroom and the dealer had the stereo loud and it sounded GREAT!  and In the tub, the sound was great and clear and did not overpower any conversation, and the jets didn't overpower anything.  Very quietly run spa!!  Those little speakers are on each of the 4 corners, too, so no one has all the sound and others hve none. 8-)

GReat thread!! ;)

Scott  :-/
Scott,
How would you compare the therapy between the 2 tubs.  Many have said that the Jacuzzi is a softer massage and maybe not as deep therapy as the Sundance.  I am looking and the Cameo and the J-480 as my top 2 right now (haven't tested either yet)

Dave, I agree with those that say the Jacuzzi is softer, but I liked it better.  The Sundance was a little too sharp/stingy for my taste.  Both good tubs, though.

My wife liked the stronger action in the Sundance. I like the more relaxing jets in the Jacuzzi. I keep leaning towards the Jacuzzi for the following reasons.
1. I like the dealer and she is very nice. No negative talk.
2. The price is $500 less.
3. The J-470 is the best looking tub I've seen. I really like the raised back.
4. The jets are relaxing and after the other thread I think the internal speakers make sense to keep the sound in the tub.
5. I like the fact that you can use different filters and not locked into one brand.

Sundance reasons:
1. Air blower and more action with jets.
2. Dealer supports what they sell
3. I like the dual foot jets for each corner seat.
4. I like the calf jets and whirlpool jets.
5. I liked the control panel

Remember I wet tested the Sundance Maxxus and the Jacuzzi 465 and 345 so my reasons may be a little off.

When we were at the Jacuzzi dealer, the tub we tried had a cobalt shell (pebble style) in the silverwood cabinet.  Very nice.  We also like the smooth marble style finishes, and the 480 on the floor was an '07 model with the blue/swirly finish that we really like.  Our dealer told us that color/finish was discontinued, and the book doesn't show that finish either.  I would like the Platinum as well with the silverwood, but I really like graphite except that it is a pebble style finish.

Hubby liked the opal and silverwood.  I thought that it looked more taupe than grey, and I think the color of the shell can really change the appearance of the cabinet.

The cobalt still is a very ppretty color, though.

Scott,

We are hoping to wet test the Arctics and Dyansty this weekend, and then make our decision!!  The tension is killing me...ooohhh the suspense!! ::) :-?

How about you??  Are you going to try Arctics and compare to the Sundance and Jacuzzi too??  How about the Bullfrog??   Too many to pick from.

Hubby was still thinking about looking at the Pacific, I am hoping that will only be a last resort, just because there is only 1 dealer out here and he only had 1 small model on the floor.  Otherwise, nice looking tubs and seem to be well built, too.  Canadian as well.

Hoping to know something next week........ ::)

Chrisi
I  think I might go buy the Jacuzzi today. The Sundance dealer wants to make an appointment with me to show me why no other Spa is worth buying. But as always my wife likes one and I like the other. She really liked the Sundance Maxxus.

I would love to buy a BullFrog because I was impressed with webboy and his company. The negatives for me were only one smaller spa with one deep seat that was deep enough to get me under the neck jets. It was the 462 I think. I want a larger tub and more deep seats.

The Arctic tub was the coolest thing I've seen. but I need to fly to Salt Lake and wet test and my wife has reached her wet test limit. Also no local support and I would have to work with dealer long distance over the phone. If Vegas was going to have a Arctic dealer here in the very near future I would consider it.

Ever since I started looking at tubs I keep getting drawn back to the Jacuzzi 470 and I haven't even seen one in person. I met my neighbor last night to get him to sign my HOA permit to get a spa installed. He took me into his back yard and he had a 2 year old Jacuzzi next to his pool. It seems the Jacuzzi is very popular here with the new buyers on this forum as well. I do worry that the raised warterfalls on the back of the J-470 is getting way to much of my attention, but it looks really cool, what can I say.

Anyway I feel like it is time to but this baby to bed and buy something so I can refocus on something else in my life.

Scott  ;)

I'm thinking Sand with Harvest Wheat, stereo with remote, ozone. stairs, and lift. I can't find where the Pro-lights are available for the 400 series.

Scott,

Maybe after you buy your Jacuzzi and all is set up, you could have the local friendly Snobdance salesjerky (not dissin' on S-dance--just the salesperson!) over to show HIM why another brand is worth buying.  ;D ;D ;D   After all, I am guessing that this is the same salersman that Wouldn't or Couldn't fill the Optima for you and your wife.   :-/ ;)

Maybe there is a reason you keep getting drawn back into the Jacuzzi... ::)  it is an awesome tub and the jets are very nice.  If you wet tested the 480, the only main difference is the seat vs the lounger--our dealer emptied the 480 to be able to test the 470.

Well, good luck with your decision.  Like I said, the seat with the waterfalls has those 2 large massage jets that make your low back and flanks feel great!!  And I don't usually have low back pain!!

And, the Arctics, as wonderfully impressive as they are==esp with the Cooler  :o would be pretty far to handle all the business transactions.

Chrisi :)

Oh, silly you!!

I never grow up!!  Fortunately, for 42 I don't have wrinkles, but lots of grey hair which I routinely color various shades of auburn!!  And I still try to maintain the big hair!! :-[ ;D ;D

Of course, the arthritic neck and knees do keep me in check, though, and the fact I will be able to take my oldest son to a bar this year--oh there are some wrinkles now!! ;D

Not ready to be granny yet and I hope my boys remember that!!

We are waiting for final wet tests (again, waiting on word!) to decide 470 vs the competition.  I am tired of waiting!

Well, time for a pre 11-7 nap--Yawn!!

G'night yinz guys!!

Well I'm 52 and have 5 children who are 23 - 33 years old. I have 5 grandsons and because the 7 month old one lives with us is why we are buying a hot tub. Our backs and knees are not what they use to be and packing around a 17 lb baby doesn't help. He eats a lot.

My Jacuzzi dealer is really layed back. It is run by a mother and son team. The mother is a grandmother and she took Thursday and Friday off to watch her grandchildren. The son is very busy re-designing pools so he is hard to contact. Even with all this they sold 3 new Jacuzzi's last week. The Sundance dealer won't deal with me via internet or phone, he wants me to make an appointment and come in and see him in the store. He is so busy selling the only real Spa in the industry. BTW, for the record I know that Sundance is a great tub. This dealer just has blinders on to any other brand. I'm glad that none of the dealers on this forum are like that.....

Hey all!! I am back.  Unfortunately, NOT from a weekend of wet testing! :'(
THe spa we were waiting for (Dynasty) was delayed AGAIN since the truck was also sharing a load with another dealer.  AGAIN, it should be here this TUesday.  In the meantime--the JQZ dealer left a message inquiring about  the wet testing.   But the weekend was full of b-day parties and drinking and shopping--woohoo! ;D ;D

Hoping again to have some progress this week, and a spa soon on the deck!!

I want a Snoop Doggy Duck like Jerthespaowner has!!!!!!

Well, Jacuzzi owners/future owners!!

The wet test results are in!!

DYnasty---not as impressive as it looks--VERY pretty.

Jacuzzi--AWESOME jets and therapy

Arctic--Equally AWESOME jets and therapy--better yet the power to all seats is equal (with the 3 pumps) without 2 of the seats losing power.

SO, folks, it will be down to Jacuzzi and Arctic, even though hubby STILL wants to look at Pacific, I don't know that I want to. Probably willl, though, since I am weak.

Hoping soon to SIT in a Tundra!!

Chrisi :)
