Title: Disconnected tub in spring temperatures
Post by: lagator43 on April 01, 2008, 04:36:16 pm
I live in Edmonton Alberta and the temp is ranging anywhere from +7 degrees to - 7 degrees celsius.  I am moving and need to disconnect the electrical 10 days before I can move the tub.  Will this harm the pump and/or jets?  I am worried about the water that gets left in the system after I drain it freezing.

I was hoping for warmer temperatures but spring has been on the chilly side so far.  Any advice?

It probably will not do damage (depending on what temperatures are actually reached, and for how long), but I would remove all of the water I could (shop vac is great for this, if you have one), and undo the lower unions on the pumps.

Even if damage is unlikely, it could cost a few dollars, not to mention headaches.

If you're not up to the D-I-Y, you should be able to hire a tech for this service, for (hopefully) a reasonable price.
