Post by: wmccall on March 20, 2008, 11:05:24 pm
While in the hottub tonight, I saw the ISS pass overhead. I haven't seen it since the last two newest addtions.  Its extremely bright!  If you want a good resource for when it is flying over your house, I recommend http://www.heavens-above.com

Hey Bill,

We had a -2.0 ISS pass this a.m. just before 7.  The full moon was big and yellow as it headed down plus, as we were waiting for the ISS arrival, an Iridium flare was seen!  The skies were perfectly clear as well.  Then, as I drove out to work, the orange moon was setting on the horizon...what a great morning to wake up!

The iridium flares are pretty neat. We had our first magnitude -8 recently.   If you have a watch that is sync'd to the atomic clock you can predict them down to the second.  We have been outside waiting and a nieghbor asked us what we were looking at just seconds before it happened.
