Title: Buying Replacement Insulation
Post by: Chubby Johnson on March 17, 2008, 08:29:19 pm
I understand that when a hot tub jet is repaired, the insulation that got wet from the leak is not replaced. In my opinion it should be replaced but nevertheless, where could I go to buy replacement insulation and what is the brand name I should look for?

Does the same insulation work for 2 lb. closed cell and 1/2 lb. open cell?

Any other tips concerning the replacement of wet insulation would be great.

Thanks folks!

I replace it when I do a leak repair.

I get it from the factory - pricey. You can cut up scrap foam of just about any type, or even use packing pellets. "Good Stuff" foam can seal it in, and can be purchased at home centers.

If spa is under warranty, Watkins instructions are to replace it.  Can't speak for other brands.  We have gotten foam before from TAP Plastics.  Don't know if they are regional or national.

Bullfrog has covered replacement of foam the few times I've needed to.  Although it was only due to saturation once (that was spendy - but they didn't say a word).

Haven't had to replace any under warranty in a Sundance yet, as we're a new dealer.  At a slightly educated guess, I'd assume they and Jacuzzi both do.
