Title: Spa Blanket Review - Update
Post by: Richs100 on March 04, 2008, 06:45:27 pm
Ok, either my ozone system is whoopin' butt or that spa blanket I bought is crap.

I went out to the tub tonight for a soak and discovered a nice big hole in my new foam blanket right over the ozone inlet.  I started using the blanket in mid-January, so its been in the tub for about a month and a half.  I'm gonna give the vendor a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Sure looks like you put that blanket on your bed instead of your spa!!  Was that in error?  ;D ;)

Seriously, I can't believe that hole!!  No spa blankets for me.

At least now we can answer the question people have often asked posed "How can I be sure my ozonator is producing ozone?". Simply buy one of those spa blankets and check it for degradation after a couple weeks. ;)

You got that right.  I am fully confident that my ozone is working just fine!  Nice to know, but the $39.00 "test strip" is a bit much!

No, Cyn, the blanket was still in the tub when I took that picture.
I chose the Hot Spring Tapestry option for the shell color!    ;D ;D ;D

Take the deal.  Doc's blankets are much much different than what you've got.  I also guarantee you will find it easier to use.

If you PM me an address I can ship it out to you tomorrow........... Would you like a blanket leash to go along with it?

I'd like to ask for a comparison between the two different blankets if I may.

Doc,

I can tell you your blanket is much better! The one I got is similar to the packing material that you get for electronics. I was going to return it but with a restocking fee it was pointless. I figure I would see how this fairs and move on after it becomes useless.

Rich,

I have to say I don't have a hole in my blanket but my spa's circ pump thows out the bubbles fairly far from the return port (think long thin line). Then again who knows what happens when I upgrade my ozonator this spring. Think about it this way - all that damage was not done to your cover. Doc's blanket is a nice product and you will definately see a difference in quality.

As far as the blanket leash - it woks pretty well in removing the blanket from the water. Be careful with the blanket leash though on the cover, I found that the surface tension of the water may keep the blanket "stuck" to the water and may pull the gromets through the blanket. It did it for me. I bought some high quality duct tape and used that as a backing for the blanket to have some substance, seemed to work.

Doc, I'm ready for one of your blankets myself. I'll buy it though. Have you thought about pre-cutting them to some of the more popular shells? Can you point me to what you would recommend for a HS Envoy?

Looks like a very inefficient ozone system, I hate to see what the cover will like in a couple of years.

Never take the first offer! I would have said "NO DEAL" and waited for Doc to make a better offer. I bet you could have gotten a free blanket and some free chems for trying it out!!  ;)

I was gonna hold out for the new Kevin Federline "bling" duck, but he threw in the blanket leash, so I went for it.  ;D
