Two days after I did my final "winter ready" drain and fill that was to last me till March, my buddy knocks a 32oz Mt. Dew into the tub. ::)
Tub is a 500gal '06 HS Grandee w ozone. From balanced alk ph and chlorine before the party started, I noticed the next day the alk dropped to 0, the ph is a dirty orange that I've never seen before and isn't on the test strip and the dichlor is maxed out because I shocked it (all I could think of when it happened). Is this salvageable? I was thinking of either dumping a bunch of baking soda in or just dumping the tub. Mt. Dew!
At least the cup was plastic and not glass! :o

I have not dumped any drinks in my tub... however my sister... in one week ( family is rough on the tub ) dumped two glasses of wine, a bottle of beer...and yes.. a cup of coffee... Needless to say her water got a little hazzy. She cleaned her filter, and shocked the tub twice over. Chemicals are all in balance and her water is crystal clear. I don't know that much about tubs..being new and all... but I would think 32 oz of mt. Dew shouldn't do that much to your water.. you should be able to salvage it.

Just give'em a straw... ;D

i would leave it. Shock it hard and you will be fine. I have heard of worse situations, you will be fine.

32 oz in 500 gallons...should clean up no problem.
-
yeah, it should clean up no problem. the odd test results were more than likely due to your high chlorine levels. high levels can often bleach out test strips and give false results, or, as you mentioned, show some really odd colors.

My Taylor kit booklet recommends 2 SlimJims to each 32 oz Mountain Dew.
That's assuming you have an ozonator.....
(We call it "doin' the dew" around here)
;D ;D

Was it diet or regular?

Since we are talking about Shocking, in this case, wouldn't MPS be better than Dichlor?
-
I think you probably should do both. MPS to burn stuff out and extra chlorine as bacteria may love the extra sugar in the water
