Anyone ever used these?
I know you can do the same thing with granules,
but has anyone used these type of shock packets?

It appears to be "some product" is a disolvable bag..... possibly made from rice paper (like some imported candies)... But what is the "some product"????

i just found this article on it.
Pacific Sands' "ONE Shock(TM)" Granted EPA Registration
Market Wire, March, 2007
Pacific Sands, Inc. (OTCBB: PFSD) is pleased to announce that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted the company's revolutionary new product, 'ONE Shock(TM)' a sanitizer master label registration.
Developed by Pacific Sands lead research chemist, Dr. Jack Hagarty, 'ONE Shock(TM)' is expected to saturate the consumer spa industry with what we believe is the safest, easiest to use spa sanitizer available.
'ONE Shock(TM)' is the convenient, 'no touch' way to deliver proven sanitizer and shock in ONE pre-measured dose.
ONE dissolving packet of 'ONEShock(TM)' is pre-measured to deliver a sanitizing level of product to the average-sized consumer hot tub without user exposure to chemicals.
Mick Wynhoff, CEO & President of Pacific Sands, stated, "'ONE Shock(TM)' is the most unique product we've offered the industry to date. We are excited about the EPA master label registration and view this development as a significant sales opportunity."
ONE Shock completes the company's ecoONE® Spa Treatment System which has been previously labeled for use in conjunction with conventional sanitizers.
Pacific Sands has engaged one of the nation's top EPA registered manufacturing facilities to package the product. 'ONE Shock(TM)' is expected to be available for shipment to most states by late May, 2007.
Pacific Sands is currently taking pre-orders for 'ONE Shock(TM).' This is the ONLY product of its kind available on the market and initial supplies may be limited. Call 877-492-8123 for more information or email sales@pacificsandsinc.com .

Another EPA approved sanitizing system.

"sanitizer master label registration". I don't believe this is a NEW sanitizer, but simply allows labeling of an already approved sanitizer, delivered in a different way.

What could possibly be an average sized consumer hot tub?? One dose?
-
The only dif is that you dont have to open a pack. So your saving a whole 3 seconds. for the past 7 years that all I usually sell to customers is premeasured packs like Spa Lite from Bio Guard, Spa SWAT from Sani Marc or other packs of MPS. I dont see it picking up a whole lot of steam.
-
Doc - it's dichlor, nothing fancy.
Also, it's for people that want the convenience of pre-measured packets and would prefer not to touch the chlorine. The doses are small because they are designed to be used with ecoONE. It is expensive. A one pound bottle (68 doses) goes for about what a 2 lb bottle of Leisure Time Spa 56 is.
-
Dichlor? Nothing else? Premeasured in a dissolvable packet? At about $15 to $20 a pound?
YOWSER!
We offer dichlor at under $6 a pound.
-
Technically, we sell it for $16.95 so it's around $17 a pound and I did mention it's expensive. ;)
And yes, comparatively, we also sell dichlor for around $6 a pound (2lb bottle) for the generic branded stuff.
-
Considering how much time the dissolvable packets would save, then I guess the pre-packaged product is................................................
Probably not going to catch on. That's a hefty fee to pay for not much (IMHO) convenience.
-
We sell a lot more standard chlorine than this stuff.
-
Got an email back from my rep at the manufacturer;
"It is 99% Sodium Dichloro-s-Triazinetrione Dihydrate and 1% other."
ONEShock is the world's first and ONLY dissolving spa shock / sanitizer packet.
ONEShock is a revolutionary 'hands off' shock and sanitizer combo: The 'throw and goway to sanitize and shock your spa in ONE convenient pre-measured dose.
- 68 pre-measured, sanitizing doses!
Fast-Easy-Effective
- Destroys organic contaminants
- No chlorine dust
- Eliminates chlorine odor
- Restores water clarity
- No residue or sediment
- Sanitizes and disinfects
- Kills bacteria
- Fast acting
- 68 pre-measured, sanitizing doses!

"Probably not going to catch on. That's a hefty fee to pay for not much (IMHO) convenience"
I bought a bottle because I just don't wanna mess with
stuff and want the absolute easiest way. 68 spa uses...
heck that ain't much money. I buy milk at
7/11 sometimes.....because it's saves a few seconds.
;)
-
Why wouldn't it catch on with some people? We are in a throw away society. Is this much different than disposable filters (which I admit I despise based on principle).
In this case at least there is no added waste like the filters that get tossed away, it just saves people a little time and that ever difficult chore of figuring how much dichlor to add (which I determine the same way I determine how much salt to put on my food, with one eye closed and a metered shake of the bottle).
Whatever.
-
It's just the extra cost of the product I'd resist. Not enough convenience for me to pay tripple the cost ($6/ pound vs $17).
Maybe if there was any significant time savings, I might consider it, but scooping out a couple teaspoons of dichlor a few times per week is hardly cutting into my schedule.
But that's just me.
-
Speaking of convenience, I think it'd work great to get one of those vitamin/pill dispensers (that have the Mon-Fri dates on it), pre-measure your dichlor into each day, and keep it by your tub. Then just open the day you're on and put it in the tub when you're done soaking. Then you don't have to remember when you put it in last, or take your big canister of dichlor and a measuring spoon out to the tub with you. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to try it out to see how it works when I switch my tub from bromine to dichlor within the next few weeks.
Again, as Brewman stated, measuring dichlor 3 times per week really doesn't take a lot of time or effort. But people are always looking for an easier, quicker method...especially when it doesn't cost extra!
-
Whatever works for you. Sometimes I think we spend more time searching for convenience than it actually saves.
Maybe you could invent a system where you dump a pound of two of dichlor into a hopper in the spa, set some controls, and the spa's computer adds a dose of sanitizer at the desired interval. That would be convenient.

HELLO?
ANYBODY LISTENING?
SPA MAKERS?
NAH, HELL WHY MAKE ELECTRIC CAR WINDOWS WHEN YA CAN JUST ROLL THEM UP LIKE WE HAVE EVER SINCE I WAS A YOUNG WHIPPER SNAPPER! I MEAN HOW MUCH TIME DO ELECTRIC CAR WINDOWS REALLY SAVE? & GOSH THEY COST MORE!
LOL

There's already one available. Something like $1500....maybe more, been a while since I've seen it.
-
$1500? Youch. Too rich for my blood.
Electric car windows are nice when you need to open or close a window on the passenger side of the car, or the back seat when there isn't anyone sitting there.
They actually are rather convenient. And if you have kids, it's nice to be able to prevent the windows from opening. Same applies to power door locks.
-
I'm sure it will catch on. When BioGuard stopped making the packets of Enhanced Shock, I had a lot of customers that were disappointed.
I never understood it myself, considering the cost.
But then again, I always referred to them as the "Lunchables" of the spa industry!
