Sadly, it won't be long until the day comes that you remember these prices fondly. Unfortunately, it's going to happen. Within a few years, the price/barrel of crude is suggested to hit 100$/barrel. Ouch indeed.

Well it will be $100 now.  All they have to do is announce a speculation and that seems to pave the way, regardless of the actual supply.
I just bought a scooter capable of sustained highway speeds, and it gets about tripple the MPG of my truck.

Really? It gets Fifteen miles per gallon? Oh wait, that's triple the MPG of MY truck....

I am about to start sending my delivery crew out on deliveries with our little Jeep and have them leave the big truck in the warehouse. We can do it: the delivery trailer easily tows behind even a small car, but jamming all the tools into the back of the Cherokee is a pain.

Hmm. Maybe a roof rack...

We're leaving for Chicago Labor Day weekend to attend my sons graduation from basic training at Great Lakes Navel Center. We're taking the whole family and his girlfriend so we will be driving my Suburban :o :o It's around eighteen hundred miles round trip and the Suburban gets about 15 miles to the gallon :'(
I guess the Mall Of America won't get as much of my cash as the gas pumps. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Skip the MOA, it's just a big mall.  I live near there, and maybe get there about 1 time every couple years.

Brewmans right about MOA- It sounds like he makes it there more often than I do.  BUT… If you are here during the weekend, I highly suggest the Renaissance Festival in Shakopee.  I love going there, they have GREAT turkey legs!  And if you do happen to go, swing by the Como Cottage and say “hi” to Smiley, my brothers alligator.

You think your gas is expensive?

How about  $1.021/L Canadian. Thats is the price around Toronto.

$1.021 * 3.8 = $3.8798/Gallon

$3.8798 * 1.2 = $4.656/Gallon in US funds.

OUCH

I know it's just a big mall but I'll be traveling with two teenage girls that live for big malls.

Hubby's not happy with the mall pit stop, so I gave him my blessing to take our youngest son (15) to Hooters  :o ::),while we shop.

Ruby can you pm me info on the renaissance fair, I'd love to go to that. Will it still be there Labor Day weekend.

Brewman and Ruby, since you both live in the area can you recommend a resonable hotel near the MOA. Any info would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

I actually don't live that close to Bloomington, so I'm not familiar with the hotels in that area.  There are a lot of hotels in that area, and all look pretty nice.  Not sure about rates.  Suppose it depends on how full they are.

The Ren Fest is all the way thru the end of September, but only on weekends.  Only open Saturdays and Sundays, and possibly Labor Day Monday.
It's about 25 miles Southwest from the MOA, Just south of Shakopee.
It's a pretty easy place to find, right off of a major freeway, Hwy 169.  But if you do go, arrive early to beat the caravan of vehicles that backs up for miles getting in.

Depending on what else you want to do, there are hotels in some south metro cities like Burnsville or Eagan that are only a quick freeway hop to the MOA, and may be a little less expensive, plus you'd be a bit closer to the Ren. Fest.

Let us know what you end up doing.

I guess that fits into the "male bonding" category along with Fishing, Camping and Poker.

Is your cousin someone with a shop selling that stuff, and if so, what's the name of his shop?
Or is he a performer?

Does that scooter come with any attachments?

I was thinking about a gasoline-operated spa pump so you can enjoy your tub during a power outage.

The last idea I had along those lines didn't work out too well...

That's because you used too small a pump.  And you don't have enough insulation on that shell.
Must be a thermopane............................ ;)

So where are you at now Dr. Spa?

That's 134.9 / litre.

134.9 x 3.8  = $5.1262/gallon (Canadian)

5.1262 x 1.2 (conservative estimate) = aprox.  $6.15 US / gallon.

Can anyone say ouch? :o

Jc ( who is looking for his bicycle pump).

What's got me worried is not just the cost to fill up the tank, but how this will ripple through the entire economy.

We didn't just loose 25% purchasing power at the pump, but just about everything (food, clothes,  BEER) will go up accordingly due to increased shipping costs.

I have a feeling by  Decemeber it's going to feel like we all took a 20% pay cut.

I hope I am wrong .

At a certain point, any increased costs get passed on to consumers.  Prices rise.
From there, depending on the severity of the price increase, demand drops, and can start a recession.

So far I'd say we've (as a country- not individually)weathered out the increase in oil prices fairly well.   It's been said that increases in technology allow more efficient use of oil, which explains why the economy has largely continued on relatively well despite the increased cost of oil, and related energy sources.   The businesses havn't had to increase prices- yet.
As we go forward, we'll see.
People who make a living driving cabs and similar have got to be feeling the sting.

Last winter, two spa manufacturer reps (Coleman & D-1) told me there price increases (5-8%) were a direct corrolation to rising crude oil costs. Crude is used or refined and used to make many components including:
Plumbing
Acrylic
Jets
Pump "wet ends"
Diverter / air valves

Drew, you forgot to mention spas.  May I suggest all you shoppers out there, get 'em while there hot and the prices are lower than later, prices are only going up when this increase trickles down.  Look for higher spa prices in 2006
