My husband and I are shopping around for a spa and have it down between the Cape Cod by Down East or the Vanguard by Hot Springs. There is a big difference in price. Does anyone have any experience with either of these spas? Thanks for any input.

As a nuetral observer, lots of happy Vanguard owners here. If you end up with the Down East, we will welcome your observations of it.

My husband really likes the Vanguard...thanks for the thumbs up :)

For what it's worth, we are waiting for delivery of a new Vanguard. :)

One of my favorite sayings, "You get what you pay for and you pay for what you get". Even though you may save some $$$ up front, the cheaper spa may cost you more in the long run. Wet test them, check them both out thoroughly, and then make your decision. I've never heard of Down East Spas. Hot Spring have sold more tubs than anyone.

I'm not sure, but isn't Down East Spas the low end of the Master Spa lineup? I seem to recall that during the "Master/LilTyke Road Shows" that Down East is used as one of the "many other spa manufacturers that will be present". And when you pay your money and go in, the only tubs there are Master Spas and Down East Spas. Maybe Term, our resident "Lil Tyke" expert can confirm this.
As a long, long time, multiple Hot Spring tub owner, (93 Prodigy and an 06 Envoy), I say go with the Vanguard.
Just my own opinion!

Yup, I was right. If you go to the DownEast dot com site, the Master/Lil Tyke logo is at the bottom, right corner of the page. I have a friend who bought the "top o' the line" Master Spa with TV, Stereo and 500 lights. I personally would not recommend this company based on his experience.

Not even fair to compare those two spas, the Down East is the cheaper one for a reason.

I have a friend that bought the low end of a very popular line. He saved a few $$ on the front end, but he is paying through the nose for monthly energy costs. It seems that insulation was the part that was compromised.

go with the one that is more comfortable for you

Thanks everyone for the input. We wet tested the Vanguard yesterday and it sealed the deal. There was no comparison between the two. We will be purchasing the Vanguard this weekend. :)

And we will welcome hearing about your experience with it.
