Post by: AAAAAAA on July 11, 2007, 08:19:14 pm
I am dewinterrising my tub abd I am wondering, since I am going to fill it up and empty it once before using it, would it be alrgith to run it without a filter?

You can for a short time just make sure nothing is going to get sucked up in the plumbing.

I would be careful.  The stream of water after the filter, goes directly into the pump.  I would think that you could be asking for trouble should something come loose.  Can you use an old set of filters?

As long as there isn't anything in the water to be picked up by the pump it should be okay- which is where the advice to only do it for a short duration comes in.

Not sure what could come loose- in 4 years I've not had anything trapped in the filter compartment.

If you use Swirl Away or some other type of flush product you have to run the spa without filters for several hours or longer.

After I drain and fill I always run my spa without filters for a few minutes to be sure I don't get an air lock.

Me too.  I almost always have to force water into the circ pump inlet when I refill, or I get the FLO error when I power back up.
